Role Overview 
The Payroll Specialist partners directly with clients to support payroll processing and implementation using the platforms and systems we’ve helped implement. With strong Canadian payroll expertise, this role serves as a trusted resource to clients implementing and using ERP and HR/payroll solutions in Canada, helping them establish
accurate, compliant, and efficient payroll processes.
 


The ideal candidate combines hands-on Canadian payroll experience with HR/payroll systems implementation and strong communication, analytical, and client service skills. They understand Canadian federal and provincial requirements and can translate those requirements into system configuration, business processes, and practical client guidance. 


Key Responsibilities 

  • Partner directly with clients to understand Canadian payroll and HR business processes, requirements, and objectives. 
  • Support clients implementing and processing Canadian payroll within ERP and HR/payroll systems, providing guidance on system use, payroll regulations, and standard workflows. 
  • Apply knowledge of Canadian payroll requirements and provincial nuances to help clients establish compliant payroll processes and system configurations. 
  • Troubleshoot payroll and system issues, determine root causes, and escalate technical concerns as needed. 
  • Provide proactive support during critical payroll cycles, including payroll deadlines, year-end reporting, and regulatory changes. 
  • Conduct client trainings or refreshers on payroll tools, processes, Canadian payroll requirements, and system updates. 
  • Collaborate internally with implementation teams to ensure smooth handoff from implementation to ongoing client support. 
  • Stay current on Canadian payroll legislation, regulatory requirements, and technology platform enhancements to better serve client needs. 
  • Maintain detailed and accurate client documentation, call notes, configurations, and case updates. 

 

Minimum Requirements 

  • 3+ years of experience working with Canadian payroll, with a strong understanding of Canadian payroll processes, requirements, and compliance. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian federal and provincial payroll requirements and the ability to apply those requirements within payroll or ERP systems. 
  • Experience working with payroll and/or HR systems in an implementation, consulting, systems, or client-facing capacity. 
  • Experience supporting or implementing payroll for Canadian organizations; experience working across multiple provinces is strongly preferred. 
  • Familiarity with payroll platforms such as Paymate, ADP Canada, or similar; experience with Canadian payroll systems such as Rippling, Payworks, and Dayforce is a strong plus. 
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects or client implementations simultaneously while delivering high-quality results. 
  • Comfortable working directly with clients through video, phone, email, and other remote collaboration tools. 
  • Exceptional communication, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Willingness and ability to learn new technology platforms and obtain Intacct and Sage HCM certifications. 

 
Preferred Attributes 

  • Experience with Canadian payroll within an ERP implementation or consulting environment. 
  • Familiarity with Canadian payroll complexities, including provincial requirements, statutory deductions, taxable benefits, vacation pay, year-end requirements, and other jurisdiction-specific considerations. 
  • Payroll certification such as PCP, CPM, FPC, or CPP, or willingness to pursue relevant certification. 
  • Familiarity with Construction Payroll, including Union and Prevailing Wage. 
  • A natural collaborator and coach with a client-first mindset. 
  • Adaptable and resourceful in dynamic or complex client environments. 
  • Committed to continuous learning, regulatory awareness, and process improvement.
