Payment Technician

About the Role

The EN Payment Technician is responsible for processing Employment Network (EN) payments under the Social Security Administration’s Ticket to Work Program. This role supports the accurate, timely, and efficient processing of EN payment requests and provides critical guidance to ENs regarding payment policies, requirements, and procedures. The EN Payment Technician works closely with the Senior Payment Specialist to ensure contract deliverables are consistently met and that ENs receive high‑quality support with professionalism, precision, and a strong sense of urgency.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond to EN payment inquiries, including payment status questions, policy clarifications, and procedural assistance.
• Evaluate and review reimbursement and cost requests from ENs and State Vocational Rehabilitation Agencies (SVRAs) to ensure timely, accurate, and efficient compensation.
• Assist SSA in the creation and execution of automated payments using the iTOPSS system.
• Ensure all payment processing activities meet established performance requirements and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
• Provide ENs with timely updates to support compliance with required timelines and documentation standards.
• Inform ENs of additional available services or actions that may improve program outcomes.
• Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing payment activity and performance metrics.
• Maintain quality service by establishing, following, and reinforcing organizational standards.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending training, reviewing industry publications, networking, and participating in professional associations.
• Support team operations during periods of increased payment volume, consistent with processing demands documented in EN and VR payment workloads (e.g., submissions and pending claim trends referenced in VR cases processed)
• Handle data entry and analysis.
• Stay updated on industry trends and competitor actions affecting payments.

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• Bachelor’s degree (BS or BA) preferred.
• Data entry experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with SSA’s Ticket to Work Program.
• Experience or familiarity with multi‑task operational
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases under tight deadlines.
• Strong and effective communication skills
• Outstanding writing and editing skills
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions
• Excellent organization skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment independently and meet aggressive deadlines
• Proficient in the use of MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Able to switch between multiple systems with ease.
• Complete ongoing program training requirements as required

Compensation Ranges

Compensation ranges for ASM Research positions vary depending on multiple factors; including but not limited to, location, skill set, level of education, certifications, client requirements, contract-specific affordability, government clearance and investigation level, and years of experience. The compensation displayed for this role is a general guideline based on these factors and is unique to each role. Monetary compensation is one component of ASM's overall compensation and benefits package for employees.
