Job Role: Part-Time Senior Bookkeeper

Compensation range: $800 AUD - $1,000 AUD / Monthly

Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement

Work Schedule: This role is expected to require roughly 20 hours per week. As a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your schedule, but availability for occasional collaboration during AU business hours is preferred.

With a strong focus on customer service and long-term partnerships, they work closely with businesses to create more efficient and enjoyable workplace experiences.

Role Overview: This is a part-time Senior Bookkeeper role supporting the day-to-day financial operations of an Australian business. The role will focus on maintaining accurate records, managing bookkeeping tasks, and providing reliable financial support to the wider team. The ideal candidate is organised, detail-oriented, and confident working independently in a growing business environment.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Manage day-to-day bookkeeping operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Ensure financial transactions are accurately recorded, with discrepancies or missing information flagged for review
  • Process supplier bills, invoices, payments, and supporting documentation in Odoo or similar accounting systems
  • Maintain organised, audit-ready digital financial records, including receipts, invoices, and supporting files
  • Assist with BAS, GST, payroll, and other financial reporting requirements as needed
  • Prepare payment runs, follow up on overdue invoices, and support general financial administration
  • Maintain internal checklists and workflows while identifying opportunities to improve bookkeeping processes and systems
  • Provide ad hoc support to the General Manager as required

Requirements

  • 4+ years of bookkeeping experience post-traineeship, ideally within a small to medium-sized business environment
  • Strong understanding of general bookkeeping processes, including reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial record keeping
  • Experience using accounting software such as Odoo or similar platforms
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate financial records
  • Process-driven, organised, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain consistent workflows
  • Good communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively within a remote team

Work Arrangement & Expectations:

This is a remote role that may be set up as either an independent contractor engagement or via an Employer of Record (EOR), depending on client preferences and legal structure.

To ensure alignment and transparency, successful candidates will be expected to:

  • Be available for meetings and collaboration during core [AEST or PHT] business hours
  • Disclose any existing ongoing roles or client work
  • Reflect this engagement on their LinkedIn profile (clearly marked as “Independent Contractor” if not employed via EOR)
