Real opportunities. Real impact. Your career, redefined.

(NOTE: A human reviews every application at Oceans, so please apply for only one position and only once a year—if you're a better fit for another role, we’ll route your application accordingly and if we’re not quite ready for you, we’ll reach back out later.)

At Oceans, we help the best and brightest of Sri Lanka to take advantage of opportunities that otherwise wouldn’t be available to them, while supporting entrepreneurs around the world. Our community (we call them Divers) don’t do surface work—they go deep to solve complex challenges and make a real impact. And in doing so, they support bold ideas, expand their skills, broaden their expertise, and grow their careers, all without having to leave family and friends.

We’re looking for a highly capable Paid Media Strategist to take ownership of Google Ads execution, performance optimization, conversion tracking, and reporting across a multi-property business.

This is a hands-on specialist role for someone who can build and manage paid-search infrastructure, rather than simply maintain established campaigns. You’ll be responsible for developing campaign structures, conducting keyword and negative-keyword research, optimizing performance, and ensuring that advertising activity is connected to accurate revenue attribution.

You’ll also play an important role in improving the reliability of performance data. From auditing GA4 and Google Tag Manager setups to identifying tracking gaps and building clear ROAS reporting, you’ll help turn paid-media activity into measurable business insights and actionable recommendations.

Accountability

Your success as the Paid Media Strategist will be defined by your ability to build reliable paid-media operations, improve campaign performance, strengthen attribution, and provide clear performance visibility across the business.

Here's how you'll make an impact:

Google Ads Strategy & Account Management

  • Take ownership of Google Ads execution across multiple properties and markets.
  • Build Google Ads campaigns and account structures from scratch where existing campaigns or infrastructure are unavailable.
  • Conduct comprehensive keyword and negative-keyword research.
  • Establish appropriate targeting, bidding, budget, and campaign structures.
  • Develop campaigns for new properties that may have little or no existing digital marketing infrastructure.
  • Continuously optimize campaigns against ROAS, revenue, and performance objectives.
  • Recommend campaign and budget changes based on performance insights.

Performance Optimization & Portfolio Management

  • Monitor and optimize paid-search performance across a multi-property portfolio.
  • Identify underperforming properties, campaigns, keywords, and audience opportunities.
  • Account for differences in property-level demand, seasonality, and customer behavior.
  • Identify opportunities to improve paid-media efficiency and return on advertising spend.
  • Recommend where additional investment may be justified based on performance data.
  • Adapt campaign strategies around seasonal demand cycles.

GA4, GTM & Conversion Tracking

  • Audit existing conversion-tracking environments and identify gaps.
  • Diagnose and correct issues affecting paid-media tags and conversion events.
  • Use Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager to rebuild or improve tracking infrastructure.
  • Ensure bookings and revenue are attributed accurately to the appropriate acquisition channels.
  • Validate conversion events and tracking integrity.
  • Identify technical or reporting gaps that prevent reliable performance measurement.

Reporting, Attribution & Performance Insights

  • Build reliable paid-media reporting across multiple properties.
  • Establish clear property-level ROAS visibility.
  • Standardize performance measurement across campaigns and locations.
  • Monitor spend, revenue, conversions, ROAS, and other relevant paid-media KPIs.
  • Translate campaign data into clear recommendations for the marketing team.
  • Surface performance issues and opportunities rather than simply reporting numbers.
  • Maintain consistent metrics across properties and reporting periods.

Secondary Marketing Support

Where capability and bandwidth allow, you may also:

  • Support Meta campaign launches across multiple properties.
  • Conduct high-level SEO audits and identify website optimization opportunities.
  • Provide recommendations around organic search visibility.
  • Support local search and listing visibility initiatives.
  • Contribute to emerging AI-search visibility initiatives.

Colleagues

You will work directly with the Marketing Manager and partner closely with the broader internal marketing team. In this role, you will act as the technical subject-matter expert for paid media execution while collaborating with marketing leadership on broader strategic direction and budget approvals.

At Oceans Talent, you'll also receive guidance and support from your Operations Manager, who will help you succeed in the role and ensure that you're continuously growing and developing in your career.

Skills and Qualifications

At Oceans Talent, we believe in T-shaped individuals—those who bring deep expertise in one area paired with broad curiosity across the business. As the Paid Media Strategist, your vertical focus will be on paid acquisition, Google Ads, and performance measurement, while your horizontal focus will include analytics, conversion tracking, reporting, and adjacent digital marketing capabilities.

To excel in this role, you should have:

  • Experience: 3+ years of hands-on experience managing and optimizing paid-media campaigns, with meaningful ownership of Google Ads accounts and performance outcomes.
  • Google Ads Expertise: Deep practical experience building, managing, and optimizing Google Ads campaigns, including the ability to create campaign structures from scratch.
  • Paid-Media Management: Experience managing meaningful advertising budgets across multiple locations, business units, or accounts.
  • Keyword Research: Strong knowledge of keyword research, negative-keyword strategy, targeting, bidding, and campaign structure.
  • Analytics: Strong working knowledge of Google Analytics 4 and paid-media performance analysis.
  • Conversion Tracking: Hands-on experience with Google Tag Manager, conversion events, tracking audits, and diagnosing attribution issues.
  • Performance Measurement: A strong understanding of revenue attribution, ROAS, and paid-media reporting.
  • Analytical Thinking: The ability to interpret performance data and translate it into practical recommendations.
  • Hands-on Execution: Comfort balancing strategic recommendations with direct execution inside advertising and analytics platforms.
  • Autonomy: The ability to work independently, take ownership of outcomes, and operate within established budget guidance.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain performance insights and recommendations clearly to non-specialists.

During the interview process, you'll have the opportunity to showcase your skills in the following areas:

  • Google Ads Campaign Building: Your ability to structure and launch Google Ads campaigns from scratch.
  • Paid-Media Optimization: Your approach to improving campaign performance, efficiency, and ROAS.
  • Keyword & Negative-Keyword Strategy: Your ability to identify relevant search opportunities and reduce wasted spend.
  • GA4 & GTM Troubleshooting: Your experience diagnosing and correcting conversion-tracking and attribution issues.
  • Performance Reporting: Your ability to build and interpret reporting that provides reliable visibility into spend, revenue, conversions, and ROAS.
  • Analytical Decision-Making: Your ability to turn performance data into clear recommendations and prioritised actions.
  • Ownership & Problem-Solving: Your ability to work autonomously, identify issues early, and build effective solutions in an evolving environment.

Diversity of experience is core to Oceans. You are expected to work inclusively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds, ensuring that both personal and collective dignity are supported.
