The ServiTech Marketing Internship is a summer-long opportunity to gain hands-on experience in marketing and communications for the country’s leading crop consulting and agricultural laboratory. Throughout the internship, the intern will collaborate with the agronomy and lab teams to create engaging content, develop digital media, and assist with ongoing marketing campaigns and long-term strategic projects. The position is designed to strengthen skills in communication and creativity while providing meaningful insight into agricultural marketing and cooperative systems.
In addition, the intern will have the unique opportunity to design, develop, and execute their own independent marketing project over the course of the summer, allowing them to apply their skills, explore areas of interest, and present a final project with measurable outcomes at the end of the internship.
This is a remote position with some travel. Intern must reside within ServiTech's territory (KS, CO, NE, IA, or TX).
Internship Timeline: Mid-May through Mid-August (approximately 12–14 weeks)
Learning Objectives
Gain experience creating marketing content for the agricultural industry.
Develop skills in video editing, photography, copywriting, and digital communications.
Learn how to interpret marketing analytics to improve campaign performance.
Collaborate with agronomists, laboratory staff, and marketing professionals.
Build a professional portfolio of marketing projects.
Weekly Responsibilities
Manage The Crop Report Newsletter, including designing the newsletter, communicating with agronomists regarding report deadlines, proofreading content, and formatting the final newsletter for distribution each week.
Monitor newsletter performance and analytics to evaluate engagement and identify opportunities for improvement.
Research current marketing and content trends, identifying topics and strategies that could be relevant for ServiTech's marketing efforts.
Track social media engagement and analytics, preparing weekly reports that identify top-performing content and opportunities for optimization.
Assist in creating social media content that promotes ServiTech services, events, educational resources, and company initiatives.
Edit short-form content, including reels and photos
Create engaging social media content for Instagram, Facebook, Tik Tok, and LinkedIn.
Capture and organize photos and videos for future marketing use.
Participation in Long-Term Marketing Projects
The Summer Cover Crop Newsletter:
Assist with the development and production of ServiTech’s quarterly newsletter for cooperative owners, including:
Designing newsletter layouts and graphics.
Editing and proofreading articles for clarity and consistency.
Creating social media posts to promote newsletter content and repurposing content of newsletter
Farmer Highlight Series:
Edit long-form Farmer Success Series interviews and field footage into engaging short-form reels for Instagram, Tik Tok, Facebook, LinkedIn, and other digital platforms.
Repurpose long-form video content into a variety of marketing assets, including highlight clips, social media posts, website content, and promotional materials by identifying key soundbites, visuals, and storytelling moments.
Intern Marketing Promotion:
Assist with the production of the “Come Scout With Me” reels series, including editing reels and photos and writing engaging captions for social media.
Develop campus recruitment materials for the upcoming class of interns, including promotional materials, content, and outreach assets to support internship hiring efforts.
Independent Marketing Project:
As part of the internship, the intern will develop and execute a unique marketing project of their choosing throughout the summer. The project should align with ServiTech's marketing goals and provide an opportunity for the intern to apply their creativity, research, and marketing skills. Interns will establish project objectives and a timeline early in the summer and participate in periodic check-in meetings with their supervisor to discuss progress, receive feedback, address challenges, and ensure the project remains on track. At the conclusion of the internship, the intern will present their project to the marketing team and leadership, highlighting the project's objectives, strategy, implementation process, results, and key takeaways.
QualificationsQualifications
Pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Agricultural Communications, Agriculture, or related field.
Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Experience with Canva and Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Lightroom.
Familiarity with social media management and content creation.
Working knowledge of major social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with team members.
Background in agriculture or related fields is a plus.
Must reside in ServiTech's territory (Kansas, Texas, Iowa, Colorado or Nebraska).
Must have a valid driver's license.
