Job Description

The P&C Actuary Lead Consultant - Reserving job is responsible for executing and/or managing projects in support of P&C insurance reserving utilizing accepted actuarial and statistical standards, as well as methodologies and knowledge. This role works closely with reserving leadership and key business partners including Finance and Claims to evaluate reserve adequacy and volatility, monitor emerging loss trends, and lead the creation of a reserve narrative. Projects, responsibilities, and analyses will be of moderate to high complexity and support key business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides thought and/or technical leadership, including contributions to improvement, development and innovation, and often serves as a subject matter expert
  • Plans, implements, manages, and/or contributes to projects that are moderate to high complexity and scale using accepted project management standards, with a high degree of independence
  • Uses best practices to lead and perform highly complex, high impact reserve analyses, using creative actuarial, statistical and/or predictive modeling techniques, including proper documentation and evaluation, as appropriate to inform business decisions
  • Leverages understanding of insurance business, claims operations, products, markets, and the broader economic environment to influence reserve reviews, business decisions, and communication strategy
  • Mentors, guides, and reviews the work of less experienced talent and improves the analytical capabilities of the team
  • Reviews, evaluates, and communicates appropriateness of reserving methodologies and results to leadership and business partners in a manner that is well understood and influence business decisions
  • Responsible for selecting, reviewing, using, and ensuring quality of claims, exposure, and financial data used to perform reserve analyses, reserve monitoring, and actuarial projections

Qualifications

Required

  • Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS).
  • Five or more years of actuarial experience.
  • Experience completing complex actuarial analyses and applying actuarial judgment to support business decisions.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred

  • Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS).
  • Property and casualty reserving experience.
  • Experience managing and developing actuarial talent.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• This job does not have supervisory duties.

Education & Experience (in lieu)

• In lieu of the above education requirements, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Compensation

Compensation offered for this role is 100,000.00 - 170,500.00 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.
