Are you a certified outpatient medical coding auditor with experience in surgical coding, emergency department (ED) coding, interventional radiology, or facility outpatient services? We are expanding and seeking experienced Remote Outpatient Facility Coding Auditors to support our national client base.

Position Summary:

As a Remote Outpatient Coding Auditor, you’ll conduct quality assurance audits on coded outpatient medical records. Your audits will focus on multiple service areas.

You’ll play a key role in ensuring coding accuracy, compliance with official guidelines, and educating coders through actionable feedback, live presentation of audit, and education findings. Flexible remote work and part-time availability make this a great opportunity for coders looking to advance their auditing careers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform internal audits on facility outpatient coding records to ensure accuracy and integrity.
• Review codes assigned for complex services such as outpatient surgery, ED, cath lab, IR, and injections/infusions.
• Ensure coding is in compliance with CMS, commercial payer guidelines, and official coding rules.
• Provide verbal & written detailed feedback and identify educational opportunities for coding teams.
• Stay current with the ICD-10-CM, CPT/HCPCS, and payer-specific changes.
• Collaborate with internal leadership and quality teams to improve audit standards.

Requirements

• Required Credentials: CCS, RHIT, or COC (AHIMA or AAPC certified)
• Experience: Minimum 3 years of recent experience in facility outpatient coding, auditing, and education delivery.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of EHR/EMR systems; EPIC and Optum Encoder as well as Powerpoint and Excel experience preferred.
• Proficient in CMS guidelines, outpatient billing regulations, and documentation standards.
• Strong analytical and written and verbal communication skills required.
• Availability: Full-time preferred but part-time considered (20+ hours/week).

• Employment Type: W-2 (Remote)
• Schedule: Flexible schedule available (minimum of 20 hours/week for part-time roles)
• Location: 100% Remote – Must be in the United States
