Job Title: Operations Manager – Retail Delivery Operations (Temporary Coverage)

Job Description

The Operations Manager will provide short-term leadership and hands-on support for retail delivery operations during a temporary leave coverage assignment. In this role, you oversee daily deposit and servicing operations, including account maintenance, deceased account processing, IRA and HSA administration, escheatment compliance, wire processing, research and exception handling, and regulatory support activities. You lead a team of approximately 7–8 operations professionals, ensuring operational efficiency, regulatory adherence, and consistent achievement of service level expectations within a banking or credit union environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily retail delivery operations, including deposit operations, account maintenance, and specialized servicing functions.
  • Manage and perform deceased account processing, ensuring accurate handling, documentation, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Lead IRA and HSA administration activities, including setup, maintenance, and processing in accordance with applicable rules and regulations.
  • Ensure escheatment compliance by monitoring dormant and inactive accounts, coordinating escheatment processes, and maintaining regulatory reporting standards.
  • Supervise wire processing activities to ensure timely, accurate, and secure execution of transactions.
  • Direct research and exception processing, resolving operational issues, discrepancies, and member account concerns promptly and effectively.
  • Provide regulatory support across operations by maintaining strong knowledge of compliance requirements and integrating them into daily workflows.
  • Lead a team of approximately 7–8 employees, providing guidance, coaching, and performance oversight to maintain service quality and operational stability.
  • Monitor and manage service level agreements (SLAs), ensuring service delivery meets or exceeds established performance metrics.
  • Partner closely with leadership, compliance, fraud, branch operations, and member services teams to support operational stability and risk management.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process gaps, implementing lean process improvements, and enhancing operational efficiency.
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel and core banking systems, such as Symitar (Scimitar), to analyze data, monitor performance, and support operational decision-making.
  • Ensure all operational activities align with banking and credit union regulatory standards, internal policies, and audit requirements.
  • Contribute immediately with minimal ramp-up time by applying deep hands-on experience in deceased accounts, IRA administration, and escheatment compliance.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum 5 years of banking or credit union operations experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience leading operational teams in a financial services environment.
  • Direct, hands-on experience with deceased account processing.
  • Direct, hands-on experience with IRA administration.
  • Direct, hands-on experience with escheatment compliance requirements and processes.
  • Demonstrated experience managing deposit operations and account maintenance activities.
  • Strong experience in regulatory compliance and service delivery within financial services operations.
  • Proven ability to manage and meet service level agreements (SLA management).
  • Experience working in banking or credit union operations; credit union experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to quickly step into a short-term assignment and contribute with minimal training or ramp-up.
  • Experience partnering with cross-functional teams such as compliance, fraud, branch operations, and member services.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with retail delivery operations in a financial institution.
  • Familiarity with HSA administration and related servicing activities.
  • Experience with wire processing and exception handling.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement and lean process improvement methodologies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for reporting, analysis, and operational tracking.
  • Experience with Symitar (Scimitar) or similar core banking systems, with Scimitar experience preferred.
  • Strong team leadership skills, including coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Ability to manage multiple operational priorities while maintaining high accuracy and compliance.
  • Solid problem-solving and research skills for resolving account-related issues and exceptions.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Concord, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $41.00 - $61.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
