This is a remote position.
PEPR is an organizational effectiveness firm dedicated to strengthening high-impact organizations — with a particular focus on the farmed animal advocacy movement. We partner with nonprofits, advocacy organizations, social enterprises, movement leaders, and funders to build the strategic clarity, internal capacity, financial resilience, and organizational foundations they need to grow, adapt, and deliver lasting change. We believe that stronger organizations create a stronger movement, and more impact for animals.
Our work sits across three areas: Enable — embedded fractional teams running core operations; Engage — compliant, values-aligned global hiring and EOR infrastructure; and Elevate — advisory engagements, short-term projects, and the Animal Advocacy Ops Collective community. Across all three, our goal is the same: to unlock impact.
The Role
This role is the operational backbone of PEPR. You serve as the CEO's number two across our full portfolio of clients and projects — running client operations, managing delivery across engagements, and jumping in wherever the work needs doing. Where our project-based consultants bring focused expertise to defined engagements, you bring continuity, coordination, and hands-on operational delivery across everything we do. You be comfortable jumping in across the operational remit - and leveraging the wider PEPR team where needed. If you love making things work — and take genuine pride in being the person who does the work that needs to be done — this role was designed for you.
We are open to candidates based in the US or the UK - and open to candidates looking for a full-time or part-time position.
What You Will Do
Deputy to the CEO
- Serve as the CEO's number two across the portfolio — holding an end-to-end view of engagements, priorities, capacity, and risks.
- Deputize for the CEO in client and internal settings, providing seamless cover and continuity.
- Support prioritization, engagement scoping, and resourcing decisions across the client base.
Client Delivery — Operational Excellence
- Serve as a fractional operations manager for direct service clients — embedded as a trusted, hands-on delivery partner.
- Design, implement, and run the operational processes and systems that enable clients to scale their impact.
- Deliver the operational components of cross-functional engagements so that strategy work lands in practice — flexing across a varied mix of work as portfolio needs evolve.
Portfolio & Project Management
- Manage and track multiple concurrent client engagements, coordinating activity across the PEPR team.
- Track timelines, milestones, risks, and dependencies — surfacing blockers early and keeping clients and the CEO informed.
- Strengthen internal delivery systems, templates, and communication rhythms.
PEPR Internal Operations & Programs
- Support the COO on PEPR's internal systems and ways of working, and provide operational support for the Elevate program and the Animal Advocacy Ops Collective.
- As PEPR scales, build our operations function and lead our operational excellence supporting team members.
Requirements
You Might Be a Great Fit If
- You are an experienced operations, delivery, or project management professional — and a natural number two who thrives supporting a senior leader.
- You are highly organized and structured, bringing calm clarity to complex, multi-stakeholder environments.

- You are comfortable with navigating ambiguity and overcoming obstacles - and always come with a solution to any problem.
- Have had experience across multiple operational functions (general operations, compliance, HR, finance, systems).
- You are motivated by the farmed animal advocacy movement or the broader social impact sector - and understand how your role enables impact.
Nice to Have's
- Consulting, agency, shared service or multi-client experience.
- Familiarity with nonprofit or advocacy organizations, or the farmed animal advocacy ecosystem.
- Fluency with modern operational tooling — project management platforms, automation, and AI tools.
- Experience with operational and compliance aspects for US 501(C)3 organizations.
