This role provides advanced medical review of self-certifying electronic questionnaires, fitness for duty evaluations, and complex medical examination records for TSA employees and applicants, including Transportation Security Officers (TSOs), Explosive Detection Canine Handlers, and Criminal Investigators.
LOCATION
Primary Site: TSA Headquarters, 6595 Springfield Center Dr, Springfield, VA 20598
Remote-eligible; however, must be able to travel locally (unreimbursed) to TSA Headquarters for initial medical exam review training, typically held during the first month of employment, and as requested by OCMO

Core Hours of Operation: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
CONTRACT DETAILS
Anticipated Contract Start Date: September 1, 2026 with leeway for contract award, security, and credentialing
Duration of Contract: Five (5) year
The contract term is between the Government and Wander Staffing. As with any position, if circumstances require you to leave prior to contract completion, a 60-day notice is required
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
Active Nurse Practitioner (NP) licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia
Minimum of five (5) years of direct, relevant experience in clinical practice, occupational health, and advanced case management
Experience in medical review, fitness for duty evaluations, and complex medical determinations
DUTIES
Review electronic Annual Medical re-Certification (AMC) questionnaires in accordance with OCMO protocols and TSA medical guidelines
Clear employees under the medical direction of a TSA physician or federal medical team, or identify the need for additional medical information
Contact employees by phone or email within 24 hours to discuss medical concerns and follow up as needed
Document all actions, outcomes, and case information accurately in OCMO's medical records system
Conduct records-based Fitness for Duty (FFD) reviews as assigned by the TSA Chief Nurse, Physician, or federal medical team
Prepare FFD determination letters for physician review and signature
Evaluate medical qualification of TSA employees and candidates against current medical guidelines and protocols, and make recommendations to the OCMO physician or federal medical team
Serve as a clinical resource on abnormal, complex, or non-standard cases in collaboration with the TSA Chief Medical Officer and TSA nurses
Support TSA candidate EEO cases and litigation, including providing case records and summaries while adhering to chain-of-custody and confidentiality protocols
Respond to all internal and external inquiries within 24 hours
Proactively recommend process improvements and report out quarterly
PRODUCTIVITY EXPECTATIONS
Approximately 50 AMC questionnaire reviews per day, based on historical volume and TSA automation tools
Approximately 6 Fitness for Duty (FFD) reviews per day
Note: exact task allocation and whether these standards are measured independently or cumulatively is pending clarification from TSA
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to complete required security vetting
Must adhere to all TSA and OCMO data security, confidentiality, and information-handling policies
Designated Key Personnel; may be called upon to support surge staffing needs with short notice, including submission of candidate resumes within 10 business days of a TSA surge request
