What's in Store
We are on the lookout for a New Business Case Manager to join our team. New Business Case Manager is responsible for serving as a critical link between clients, underwriters, and the sales team, ensuring that policies are issued accurately and efficiently. Working closely with the underwriting process for new disability insurance applications, this position is pivotal in delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring that clients receive the disability coverage they need.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform quality checks and research, and collect, review, and process new disability insurance applications, ensuring that all required documentation is complete and accurate. 
  • Ensure timely follow-up on all statuses of cases in the underwriting process and maintain organized records of applications, all communication, and underwriting decisions.
  • Stay updated on industry regulations and company policies to ensure that all processes and decisions are in line with applicable guidelines.
  • Act as a point of contact for clients, brokers, and agents, providing timely updates on the status of their applications and addressing any questions or concerns.
  • Collaborate with underwriters to assess risk and determine appropriate policy terms, including coverage amounts, premiums, and any necessary medical evaluations.
  • Review changes to products and procedures and recommend workflow and process changes to the New Business Manager.
  • Ensure that disability insurance policies are issued promptly and accurately, meeting all underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct follow-ups to cases with outstanding requirements needing to be met; check the status of each outstanding requirement utilizing vendor sites or reaching out the life and/or long-term care clerical teams.
  • Research, review, correct and reissue policies as needed.
  • Maintain organized records of applications, communication, and underwriting decisions, and assist in maintaining accurate electronic records.
  • Educate clients and agents on the underwriting process, any additional requirements, and policy terms, helping them understand the coverage.
  • Perform quality checks on issued policies to ensure accuracy and compliance with internal policies and external regulations. 


Skills, knowledge & expertise

  • Associate’s degree with 1-3 years of experience or an equivalent combination of both.
  • Proficient with Excel and other Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Must be able to work a Pacific Time zone work schedule. 
  • Insurance experience strongly preferred. 
  • OnBase experience preferred. 
  • Proactive, independent, and takes initiative with consistent follow through.
  • Ability to manage tasks for several clients daily.
  • Must possess the ability to multitask, meet important deadlines, and exhibit discretion with sensitive and confidential information and be proactive and take initiative as the superior time management skills with capability of working with and meeting deadlines.
  • Exceptional capability to multi-task and prioritize with excellent organization and documentation skills in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate across the organization.
  • Capable of working collaboratively and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent customer service skills. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exhibit discretion with sensitive and confidential information.
