Leading Title Agency is seeking an experienced National Commercial Underwriting Counsel to join our team. Attention to detail, excellent communication skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment are essential for success in this position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job.  Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below.  Specific activities may change from time to time. 

  • Handle large volumes of files, and time sensitive material associated with transaction matters and relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assignments.
  • Utilize underwriting standards and guidelines within delegated authority limits, to underwrite the issuance of title insurance and provide guidance in the performance of real estate settlement services.
  • Provide underwriting support, counsel, and authorization to company personnel, agents, and clients, related to the issuance of real estate title insurance commitments and policies.
  • Provide guidance to company personnel in the performance of real estate settlement services.
  • Issue underwriting standards and guidelines in accordance with established company processes.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Juris Doctor; active and current member of a State Bar
  • 10+ years of experience as Commercial Underwriting Counsel

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • N/A

FUNCTIONAL SKILLS

  • Ability to foster, develop and maintain professional and collaborative working relationships
  • The ability to read, analyze and interpret complex legal documents
  • The ability to apply logic or legal principles to a wide variety of complex problems
  • Knowledge of the title insurance industry, including knowledge of its products, policies, and endorsements
  • Knowledge of commercial insurance coverage, and real estate terminology
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proficient in a variety of computer software systems, such as Microsoft Office
  • Willingness and ability to learn and utilize new software systems
