Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Medical Billing Specialist to support the daily billing and insurance operations of a growing dental practice. This role is ideal for someone with strong experience in healthcare or dental billing who enjoys working with insurance claims, resolving outstanding accounts, and ensuring accurate reimbursement.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in transitioning the practice from manual to electronic claims submission while helping improve revenue cycle efficiency. Responsibilities include submitting insurance claims, managing accounts receivable, verifying insurance eligibility, following up on outstanding claims, and maintaining accurate billing records.
While previous dental billing experience is highly preferred, candidates with a strong background in medical billing and a willingness to quickly learn dental billing workflows are encouraged to apply. Experience with Eaglesoft is an advantage, although candidates with experience using similar dental practice management systems such as Open Dental will also be considered.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and comfortable communicating with both patients and insurance companies. They should be able to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and maintain exceptional accuracy while contributing to a positive patient and administrative experience.
Scope of Work / Responsibilities
Medical Billing & Claims Management
- Submit dental insurance claims through electronic claims submission systems
- Assist in transitioning the practice from manual to electronic claims processing
- Manage accounts receivable (A/R) and follow up on outstanding insurance claims
- Perform payment posting and reconcile insurance payments
- Investigate and resolve outstanding billing and reimbursement issues
Insurance Verification & Patient Coordination
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits
- Navigate insurance portals and electronic claims submission systems
- Coordinate and follow up on patient treatment plans
- Communicate with insurance companies regarding claims, benefits, and reimbursement status
Administrative & Patient Support
- Answer inbound phone calls professionally
- Make outbound calls to patients and insurance companies
- Schedule and manage patient appointments
- Manage and respond to emails
- Maintain accurate patient records within Eaglesoft and other practice management systems
- Provide general administrative support to improve office efficiency
Top 3 Priorities
1. Claims Submission
Ensure insurance claims are submitted accurately and efficiently to support timely reimbursement.
2. Accounts Receivable (A/R) Management
Monitor outstanding balances, follow up on unpaid claims, and resolve billing issues promptly.
3. Dental Billing & Insurance Follow-ups
Coordinate with insurance companies and patients to ensure claims, payments, and treatment-related billing processes are completed accurately.

Required Skills & Experience
Billing & Insurance Experience
- Previous experience in medical billing or dental billing is required
- Dental billing experience is highly preferred; however, candidates with a strong medical billing background are encouraged to apply
- Strong knowledge of claims submission, accounts receivable (A/R), insurance verification, and payment posting
- Experience using insurance portals and electronic claims submission systems
- Experience following up on denied, delayed, or outstanding insurance claims
Systems & Software Experience
Experience with the following is preferred:
