We are currently seeking a Medical Billing Specialist who supports the RCM department through the management and analysis of payer denials and rejections. Assists in the identification of areas for improvement within RCM such as registration and coding.

UCFS Hours of Operation: Open 8:00am - 7:00pm; Hours Vary By Day & Location 

Expected Schedule: FT, 40 hours/week; Monday through Friday

Outline of Duties and Responsibilities:

• Consistently follows up on all unpaid claims utilizing various WQ and aging reports
• Resolves claim denials via contacting insurance, submitting appeals, and informing Billing Manager of denial trends
• Corrects and resubmits claim rejections in a timely manner
• Collaborates with the billing team and Billing Manager to address coding related issues and discrepancies.
• Answer patient questions related to billing.
• Responsible for work queues assigned by Billing Manager.

Requirements

Minimum Education and Experience

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• 3 years experience in medical billing
• FQHC experience is highly preferred
• Experience working in a remote setting

Minimum Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• CPC is a plus

Minimum Skills and Abilities

• Ability to continuously access an internet connection with 100 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload speeds
• Familiarity with software programs such as Microsoft Office Suite, especially in Outlook, Teams, and Excel
• Experience with electronic health record systems such as EPIC
• Familiarity with medical billing and terminology.
• Comprehensive knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance standards, including HIPAA and Medicaid/Medicare rules.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment or individually as needed
