As a Media & Entertainment Industry Advisor on the Telecommunications and Media team, you will serve as an industry authority and trusted advisor to executive decision-makers at Microsoft’s most strategic Media & Entertainment customers, across advertising, publishing, streaming, and content & media in the United States. You will shape early-stage demand by translating customer priorities into industry-specific use cases, business scenarios, and multi-year transformation roadmaps, leading with AI to help customers optimize operations, reinvent content creation, and unlock new monetization models.
Operating with a high degree of autonomy and influence, you will guide early-stage opportunities, nurture executive relationships that generate new business, and orchestrate account teams and partners to convert industry vision into pipeline and commercial outcomes. ResponsibilitiesIndustry Thought Leadership & Executive Engagement
- Serve as a trusted advisor to C-level and business-unit executives across Media & Entertainment, shaping AI and digital transformation strategy.
- Lead executive conversations grounded in industry transformation principles, optimizing operations, redefining content creation, and unlocking monetization.
- Engage stakeholders beyond IT (content, editorial, production, marketing, advertising, and monetization leaders) using persona-based industry narratives.
- Represent Microsoft as an industry authority at executive briefings, industry events, and customer forums.
Demand Generation & Pipeline Creation
- Lead early-stage opportunity development through industry-led insights, use cases, and scenario-based selling.
- Originate and qualify high-value transformation opportunities, prioritizing scalable, repeatable Media & Entertainment use cases.
- Create demand across key verticals, content creation & production, streaming & distribution, audience engagement, and advertising & monetization.
- Generate opportunities through co-innovation, outbound partner collaboration, and executive engagement.
Industry-Led Account Planning
- Act as the industry subject-matter expert within account teams, aligning strategy to customer business priorities and Microsoft’s industry point of view.
- Translate customer priorities into multi-year transformation roadmaps and a qualified pipeline.
- Partner with account teams and specialists to shape opportunities and drive execution from strategy through delivery.
Co-Innovation & Partner Ecosystem Leadership
- Drive co-innovation with software vendors, systems integrators, and Media & Entertainment industry partners to design and scale differentiated solutions.
- Lead outbound partner engagements to create and accelerate opportunities aligned to customer needs.
- Identify ecosystem gaps and influence partner strategy to meet emerging industry needs across the media value chain.
AI & Digital Transformation Leadership
- Champion AI-first transformation scenarios, including AI-powered content creation and production workflows; media supply-chain optimization and AI-driven automation; real-time personalization and audience engagement; and data-driven monetization and advertising intelligence.
- Help customers move from early experiments to enterprise-scale, responsible AI adoption and real business value, keeping human creativity and judgment at the center.
Field Enablement & Industry Leadership
- Translate Media & Entertainment insight into actionable guidance for sales and technical teams.
- Mentor colleagues and contribute to skilling and readiness across the organization.
- Share industry insight, competitive intelligence, and customer feedback to influence product, marketing, and strategy teams.
QualificationsRequired / minimum qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Business, Technology, Media/Communications, Engineering, or a related field AND 5+ years of customer-facing experience in the Media & Entertainment industry (advertising, publishing, streaming, content/media) or in industry-focused consulting, digital strategy, or transformation roles serving these sectors
- OR Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Technology, Media/Communications, Engineering, or a related field AND 7+ years of customer-facing experience in the Media & Entertainment industry (advertising, publishing, streaming, content/media) or in industry-focused consulting, digital strategy, or transformation roles serving these sectors
- OR equivalent experience.
Additional or preferred qualifications
- Experience and fluency with AI translation - demonstrate deep awareness of how the media ecosystem works end to end, how content is created, produced, distributed, monetized, measured, and experienced. Ability to translate that industry context into practical AI scenarios that matter to business leaders, from creative workflows and production efficiency to audience engagement, advertising effectiveness, rights, data, and new revenue models.
- Experience in the Media & Entertainment value chain - from content creation, production, rights, distribution, and audience engagement to advertising, monetization, and measurement - with the ability to translate that knowledge into credible AI-led customer scenarios.
- Experience with establishing C-suite and business-unit relationships at strategic Media & Entertainment customers, with a proven ability to engage and influence senior decision-makers.
- Recognized industry thought leadership and a strong personal brand in the Media & Entertainment market.
- Broad media value-chain fluency and experience with AI translation skills, able to engage across studios, broadcasters, publishers, streamers, sports, advertising, and agencies without being limited to one sub-sector; understands how AI can reshape creative workflows, production operations, distribution, monetization, audience engagement, and business models.
- 12+ years of Media & Entertainment industry or industry-consulting experience with increasing scope and influence.
- Proven success driving complex, enterprise-scale digital transformation initiatives.
- 5+ years of leadership or influence experience (formal or matrixed) guiding cross-functional teams.
- Experienced in AI, data platforms, and cloud-based transformation, with the ability to translate them into industry outcomes.
- Track record of partner-ecosystem development, cross-regional collaboration, and building strategic narratives that drive consensus across complex organizations.
Industry Advisory IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,000 - $222,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $170,300 - $239,800 per year.
