Manager, Training & Development

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF SUNSTRONG MANAGEMENT
SunStrong Management is a leading independent asset management and servicing platform specializing in residential and commercial solar energy portfolios. SunStrong provides end-to-end services including operations and maintenance, customer billing and support, asset performance management, and investor reporting. The company partners with leading capital providers to optimize clean energy assets at scale, supporting the growth of distributed renewable energy while delivering reliable performance and exceptional customer experience

The Manager, Training & Development leads the day-to-day operation of the Training & Enablement function, building the programs, content, and delivery methods that get internal employees up to speed quickly and keep them growing from there. This role owns the full training lifecycle — onboarding curricula, role-based upskilling, and organizational readiness for new systems, tools, and processes, including preparing internal departments to successfully support each newly acquired portfolio — translating the VP's enterprise capacity-building priorities into concrete, well-run programs.

This is a hands-on leadership role: the Manager designs and delivers training directly, builds and leads a team that may include Content Developers, Content & Knowledge Base Specialists, Field Tech Trainers as the function scales, and partners closely with Product, Technology, Operations, and the Program Management team to make sure training keeps pace with what the business actually needs. The Manager owns the organization's internal knowledge base and LMS as extensions of the training function, oversees Train-the-Trainer readiness and field-based technical training for field technicians, and leverages AI-powered tools to accelerate content development. This is a 100% remote position.

Key Responsibilities

  •  Build and lead the Training & Enablement function, establishing consistent onboarding, role readiness, and continuous upskilling programs across internal teams.
  •  Design, develop, and maintain training curricula, eLearning modules, and materials for new hires, cross-training, and refresher training, applying adult learning methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, SAM).
  •  Lead enterprise-wide employee capacity building and workforce development initiatives, aligning content and delivery with organizational priorities.
  • Evaluate and promote the adoption of innovative training tools — including AI-powered authoring and content tools — to accelerate onboarding and competency development.
  •  Lead organizational readiness activities for major initiatives, including change management planning and training in support of new systems, tools, and processes.
  •  Partner with Product, Technology, and Operations teams to ensure training is built and delivered in step with new platform, process, or system rollouts.
  •  Support post-acquisition stabilization by training internal departments on the processes, systems, and procedures needed to successfully onboard, support, and integrate each newly acquired portfolio.
  •  Build and lead a team that may include Content Developers, Content & Knowledge Base Specialists, Field Tech Trainers, instructional designers, or coordinators as the function scales, directly designing and delivering training as needed.
  • Own the organization's internal knowledge base and LMS as extensions of the training function, ensuring content is accurate, well-organized, properly published and tested, and easy to find.
  • Oversee Train-the-Trainer sessions to prepare facilitators and operational leaders to deliver new or updated content accurately.
  •  Oversee field-based technical training delivered to field technicians, ensuring consistency in tools, equipment, systems, and safety procedures across the field workforce.
  •  Coach and develop team members on instructional design, facilitation, content quality, and knowledge base/LMS maintenance, establishing a consistent standard across the function.
  •  Manage training schedules, resourcing, and workload across concurrent onboarding cohorts, module development, upskilling initiatives, and change rollouts.
  • Partner with the Program Management team and the Account Manager, Client Onboarding & Integration to align training delivery with program timelines and identify where internal departments need training ahead of a new portfolio's onboarding.
  •  Track and report on training effectiveness, completion, and readiness metrics, using learner feedback and performance data to identify and prioritize training improvements.

Minimum Qualifications

  •  Bachelor's degree in Business, Education, Organizational Development, Human Resources, or a related field.
  •  4+ years of experience in training, learning & development, instructional design, or organizational enablement.
  •  Demonstrated experience designing and delivering training programs for varied audiences, including new hires and existing employees.
  •  Experience leading change management or readiness efforts tied to new systems, tools, or process rollouts.
  •  Excellent written, verbal, and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage audiences at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple training initiatives and cohorts simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

  •  1–2 years of direct people management experience.
  •  Experience in solar energy, retail energy, or another asset- or transaction-heavy industry.
  •  Instructional design certification (e.g., CPTD, ATD) or equivalent training.
  •  Master's degree in Education, Organizational Development, Human Resources, or a related discipline.
  •  Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS), e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate 360, Rise, Storyline), and AI-powered content or authoring tools.
  •  Experience managing or contributing to a corporate knowledge base, intranet, or internal documentation library.
  •  Experience with Agile or iterative approaches to content development and program rollout.

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  •  Ability to translate business priorities and process changes into clear, digestible training content.
  •  Sound judgment in balancing hands-on content creation and delivery with team leadership responsibilities.
  •  Ability to assess training effectiveness and use data to drive continuous improvement.
  •  Comfort operating in ambiguous or fast-changing environments, particularly during portfolio onboarding.
  • Ability to build credibility and rapport with learners and stakeholders across functions
Benefits
SunStrong Management offers a generous employee reward package that includes:
  • Comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, healthcare flexible spending account, and 401(k) with employer match.
  • Competitive compensation
