The Lead Solution Architect provides enterprise architectural leadership for the GSAFleet.gov cloud-native platform. The position is responsible for defining technical strategy, solution architecture, integration patterns, cloud modernization approaches, and technology standards that support secure, scalable, and mission-focused digital services. Working closely with Government stakeholders and Agile delivery teams, the Lead Solution Architect ensures business requirements are translated into effective technical solutions while advancing modernization, automation, data integration, DevSecOps, and AI-enabled innovation across the GSA Fleet ecosystem.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, maintenance, and evolution of GSAFleet.gov target and as-built architecture across Customer, Supplier, Business, Vehicle, and Managed Services products.
• Set standards for shared services, APIs, integrations, data access, IAM, security, performance, and deployment.
• Designing interface standards, quality assurance standards, performance standards, and conducting cost-benefit analysis of modern, state-of-the-art information systems.
• Assess technology options, cloud scalability, reliability, cost, and technical debt; present recommendations to Government leaders.
• Review designs for external integrations, including financial, telematics, supplier, and fleet service interfaces.
• Guide Development Leads and coordinate with the Data Architect, AI/ML Architect, and ISSO on cross-product decisions.
• Maintain design decisions, interface specifications, and production-aligned architecture documentation
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
• 10+ years of experience in designing and developing systems using AWS cloud-native architectures.
• Must be able to undergo a Tier 2S Investigation and receive a favorable investigation/adjudication outcome
• Successfully pass background and drug screening

Preferred Qualifications:

• Architected fleet or asset-management platforms integrating vehicle orders, telematics, maintenance, billing, and supplier services
• Relevant cloud solutions architecture credentials (AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical solutions clearly to senior Government officials, translate business objectives into architecture decisions, and connect technology recommendations to measurable program outcomes and success criteria.
• Can establish interface, quality, performance, security, and deployment standards across multiple teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication, technical judgment, cost-benefit analysis, and cross-team coordination.
• Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership across planning, design, analysis, development, testing, deployment, and operational support of complex information-system architectures.
• Demonstrated experience serving as technical lead across the full software development lifecycle.
• Demonstrated experience applying Agile methodologies, continuous deployment, automated testing, and DevSecOps practices.
• Demonstrated experience architecting, building, and deploying solutions utilizing multiple data stores for specific application use cases, including relational/RDBMS and NoSQL technologies.
• Demonstrated experience architecting major system transformation and consolidation using common data stores, centralized security, API management services, Identity and Access Management, reporting/visualization tools, and hosting/infrastructure capabilities.
• Experience designing and implementing robust, scalable, and secure AI/ML solutions that deliver tangible business value.
• Superior written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with project teams, clients, and senior executives
