Organizational Overview:

Healthcare stakeholders formed Big Sky Care Connect (BSCC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, in 2018 to operate a health information exchange (HIE) in Montana. BSCC enables the secure sharing of vital healthcare information to improve the speed, quality, safety, coordination, and cost of patient care. BSCC serves as a state-wide network and repository for patient health information, including comprehensive clinical and claims data, and offers HIE-related services to the Montana healthcare community, connecting providers, payors, and patients.


Position Summary

The Junior Integration Analyst supports the technical implementation, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and ongoing support of healthcare data integrations for the BSCC HIE. Working with experienced technical team members, participants, vendors, and internal stakeholders, this role helps deliver reliable connectivity and a positive integration experience. The position provides an opportunity to build progressively deeper knowledge of HIE platforms, interfaces, interoperability standards, and healthcare data integration.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist Operations, Implementation, and Project/Program team members with interface implementations and participant onboarding.
  • Support interface configuration, implementation, modification, testing, troubleshooting, and post-production support.
  • Work with participants and vendors to establish network connectivity and configure solutions to support desired clinical workflows.
  • Review interface specifications and configurations and identify discrepancies or potential issues.
  • Assist with troubleshooting HL7 interface messages and other integration issues during data analysis, build, testing, QA, and production support.
  • Monitor assigned onboarding and integration activities and communicate issues, risks, and dependencies to senior team members.
  • Support investigation and resolution of technical issues, escalating complex or critical problems when appropriate.
  • Assist with configuration change requests and post-go-live upgrade activities.
  • Maintain clear technical documentation, implementation notes, and repeatable procedures.
  • Communicate technical information clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Support multiple integration activities while prioritizing assigned work, meeting deadlines, and maintaining quality.
  • Participate in technical operations and system monitoring activities, including scheduled support coverage as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent technical and operational experience.
  • Some experience with healthcare information technology, software implementation, data integration, interfaces, or technical support is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of healthcare interoperability concepts and standards such as HL7, FHIR, healthcare EDI, or IHE is preferred.
  • Interest in developing expertise with health information exchange platforms and healthcare integration technologies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to learn new technologies, processes, and systems quickly.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical users, customers, and team members.
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a technical team.
  • Ability to manage assigned tasks, prioritize competing work, and meet deadlines in a changing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, adaptable, and comfortable asking questions and escalating issues when appropriate.

 

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with healthcare systems, electronic health records, health information exchange, or healthcare data.
  • Exposure to interface engines or integration platforms such as Rhapsody.
  • Exposure to InterSystems HealthShare, HealthInsight, EMPI, semantic interoperability, identity management, or related HIE technologies.
  • Exposure to Agile/Scrum or other structured project delivery methods.

 

Development Expectations

This junior-level position is intended to build progressively deeper capability in healthcare data integration and HIE technology. The successful candidate will initially work under the guidance of experienced technical staff and progressively take ownership of more complex configuration, testing, troubleshooting, participant communication, and implementation tasks.

 

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Position works remotely within the United States and requires the ability to effectively use office equipment and technology.

Requires the ability to travel nationally by commercial air to attend meetings, conferences, and partner engagements on an occasional basis.

The position requires the ability to communicate effectively, participate in meetings, and perform work in a professional office or virtual environment. Qualified candidates can perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.


Work Authorization & Location Requirements: Incumbent must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. BSCC does not sponsor employment visas. This position is remote within the United States; candidates must reside and perform work within the U.S.
