Location: Dakar, Senegal
Eligibility: All UNICEF staff members holding Fixed-Term, Permanent, or Continuing Appointments, as well as UN Volunteers (UNVs) currently serving with UNICEF Senegal.
Background
Purpose of the Position
The Education Section is seeking a colleague from the Senegal Country Office for a short-term stretch assignment to provide programme and operational support during a particularly intensive period of programme implementation and year-end financial management. The assignment will provide an opportunity to gain practical experience in programme support within the Education Section, with particular exposure to HACT processes, financial monitoring and collaboration with government partners.
Duration
This stretch assignment will be for a period of 3 to 6 months.
Summary of key functions/accountabilities:
Support the timely processing of Q3 and Q4 DCTs, with particular attention to liquidations and disbursements, including follow-up of supporting documentation and coordination with colleagues and implementing partners.
• Support the preparation of a HACT capacity-strengthening session for account managers from central-level directorates of the Ministry of National Education, to be organized as part of the Education Annual Review.
• Support the preparation, organization and follow-up of relevant programme and financial documentation.
• Support programme-related transactions and follow-up in UNICEF systems, in line with applicable procedures.
• Provide other targeted programme and administrative support to the Education Section, as required during the assignment.
Minimum Qualifications and Competencies
Education:
Completion of secondary education is required. Additional relevant training or studies would be an asset.
Work Experience:
Relevant experience in programme and/or administrative support. Good knowledge of HACT and DCT processes and familiarity with UNICEF programme and financial procedures and relevant systems are particularly desirable. Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills, with the ability to follow up on multiple processes and deliver within tight deadlines.
Language Proficiency:
Fluency in French is required. Knowledge of English is an asset.

Travel and DSA arrangement:
This is an internal stretch assignment within the Senegal Country Office. The selected staff member will remain in their current position and their salary will continue to be covered under the existing funding arrangement.
