If that sounds like you, we’d love to meet you. We are growing and seeking an ambitious Intermediate Consultant (Mine Water Management) to join our dynamic team. This role is open to our Calgary. Saskatoon, or remote opportunities in Vancouver or Montréal.

Responsibilities:



In this role, you will work closely with our mining clients and technical teams on projects that span diverse sites with unique challenges to develop practical solutions for mine water management.



Your work will include: 

  • Performing climate, hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to support peak flow, flood control and erosion mitigation studies. 
  • Completing hydrologic and engineering designs for mining clients, incorporating climate change assessments to support planning and design of water infrastructure. 
  • Developing and managing mine water balance models to support site-wide water balance assessments and water management planning. 
  • Designing and assessing mine water management infrastructure, focus on surface water infrastructure such as channels, ponds and sizing pumping systems. 
  • Contributing to the development of water quality models. 
  • Collaborating with Okane’s multidisciplinary teams to support the development and implementation of closure visioning, planning and execution. 
  • Providing guidance for the planning and execution of water monitoring programs. 
  • Completing technically proficient reports that meet project requirements.  
  • Providing support for proposals of varying complexity in technical expertise. 
  • Interacting competently with internal and external stakeholders of varying levels of expertise. 



Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Civil, Environmental or Water Resources Engineering. 
  • Holds a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or is eligible to obtain it. 
  • 5 to 8 years of experience in water management within the mining industry.  
  • Experience and aptitude for multidisciplinary work and dynamic team environments. 
  • Demonstrated experience in hydrology, hydraulics, water infrastructure design, and water balance modelling. 
  • Proficiency using water modelling softwares such as GoldSim, HEC-HMS, and other relevant numerical modelling programs. 
  • Experience with overseeing and supervising the construction of water management infrastructure is an asset. 
  • Experience in integrating source terms to water balance models and developing water quality models is an asset. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for both business and technical writing and clear and effective collaboration within project teams 
  • Knowledge of Canadian water regulations, codes and environmental standards including relevant professional procedures and practices is an asset.
