Employee Relations Consultant

Position Summary
The Employee Relations Consultant serves as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees, fostering a positive, productive, and compliant workplace culture. This role partners with management to address employee concerns, conduct investigations, support performance management, mitigate risk, and ensure consistent application of employment policies and practices. The Employee Relations Consultant plays a key role in strengthening employee engagement while supporting MedZed's mission of providing exceptional healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations & Case Management
- Provide guidance and coaching to managers and employees on workplace concerns, conflict resolution, policy interpretation, and performance issues.
- Manage and resolve a broad range of employee relations matters in a timely, objective, and confidential manner.
- Conduct workplace investigations involving complaints, misconduct, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and policy violations.
- Document findings, prepare investigation summaries, and recommend appropriate actions.
Performance Management
- Partner with leaders to address performance concerns through coaching, corrective action, and performance improvement plans.
- Ensure consistency and fairness in employee discipline and employment decisions.
- Support leaders through employee separations, including involuntary terminations and reductions in force.
Compliance & Risk Mitigation
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Maintain current knowledge of employment legislation and emerging employee relations trends.
- Identify workforce risks and recommend proactive solutions to minimize legal and employee relations exposure.
- Collaborate with Legal and HR leadership on complex employee matters.
Manager Consultation & Coaching
- Coach leaders on effective people management practices and difficult workplace conversations.
- Provide recommendations regarding employee engagement, retention, performance, and organizational effectiveness.
- Support leadership development initiatives focused on employee relations best practices.
Policy Development & Implementation
- Interpret and apply company policies consistently across the organization.
- Participate in development, review, and enhancement of HR policies, procedures, and training materials.
- Deliver employee relations and workplace conduct training to leaders and employees.
Data & Reporting
- Track and analyze employee relations trends, investigations, corrective actions, and turnover data.
- Prepare reports and recommendations for HR leadership.
- Utilize HR systems to maintain accurate records and case documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or related field.
- 5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience with significant employee relations responsibilities.
- Experience conducting workplace investigations and managing complex employee relations issues.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
- Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- Healthcare, home health, care management, or population health experience.
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification.
- Multi-state employee relations experience.
- Experience supporting remote and field-based workforces.
