Pay Rate: 

$115,000 – $155,000 (PL based on experience, skills & abilities)

Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range.

Location is Remote can be in the Midwest, South, and West regions.

The Recycling Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) coordinator position will report to the Recycling North America General Manager.   The position will support International Paper’s performance goals by supporting HSE programs for Recycling operations.  This position will provide support to effectively implement HSE processes and programs as defined by the North American Packaging Solutions – Recycling organization leaders.  This is a high travel position (75%+) The position will also align with North American Packaging Solutions – Recycling NA management to ensure that business needs are aligned with HSE program implementation

The Job You Will Perform: 

• This individual will need to learn and adjust quickly, be action oriented, be responsive to facility needs and be able to work independently.  The individual will also work directly with area HSE/Business leads.
• Elimination of SIFs and pursuit an accident free workplace
• Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
• Raise performance standards by advancing the ideals of sustainability.
• Develop Site Leadership with appropriate competencies and skill sets needed to effectively lead HSE programs at the facility, particularly Site Governance and our internal Field Verification of Critical Controls process.
• In each site, this position will implement HSE programs aligned with the Safety Excellence program, the North American converting HSE work plan and company policies, as well as state and federal regulations.
• HSE & WC Excellence – Implement measures to advance environmental and safety performance; achieve gains and reduce costs and liabilities for environmental and safety incidents; reduce workers’ compensation cost and claim volume.
• Work directly with Recycling area and plant management to ensure execution of HSE programs and practices in operating plants.  The incumbent will assist in developing the skills of Site Leadership in operating plants to ensure completion and execution of regulatory requirements.

The Skills You Will Bring: 

• The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2-5 years experience in the recycling industry and use creativity, self assurance, and determination for overall success
• The candidate will need a practical understanding, or willingness to learn of governance and regulation including both law and policies, and the ability to work with the lead salaried and hourly team members.

• The position will provide support for 15 locations across NA and will require travel up to 50 - 75%.

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in the Recycling Industry.
