About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, analytical and people-focused HR Specialist to manage and support day-to-day HR operations across the organisation.

This is a hands-on, generalist HR role that requires more than administrative support. The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining HR compliance, managing employee relations, overseeing HR systems and reporting, supporting employee wellness initiatives, and improving policies and procedures.

We are looking for someone who is comfortable working with both people and data, can identify potential risks and operational challenges, and proactively recommends practical solutions. You should be confident engaging with employees and management, managing sensitive information, and taking ownership of your responsibilities in a fast-paced, growing organisation.

While this is not currently a management or team leadership position, the ideal candidate will demonstrate the maturity, initiative and leadership potential to grow into a future HR leadership role as the organisation expands.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

HR Operations and Employee Relations

  • Manage and support day-to-day HR operations across the organisation.
  • Provide practical HR guidance and support to employees and management on HR-related matters.
  • Support employee relations processes, including addressing workplace concerns and handling sensitive matters professionally.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, employment contracts, personnel files and HR documentation.
  • Support employee onboarding, offboarding and other key employee lifecycle processes.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgement when handling employee information.

HR Compliance, Policies and Procedures

  • Ensure HR practices and procedures align with applicable employment legislation and relevant compliance requirements.
  • Monitor HR compliance requirements and proactively identify potential risks or gaps.
  • Support the development, implementation, review and continuous improvement of HR policies and procedures.
  • Ensure HR processes are consistently applied across departments.
  • Maintain accurate compliance documentation and support internal reviews or audits where required.
  • Recommend practical improvements to strengthen HR governance and reduce operational risk.

HRIS Management and Reporting

  • Manage employee information and HR records within the organisation's HR Information System (HRIS).
  • Ensure HRIS data remains accurate, complete, up to date and appropriately maintained.
  • Generate, analyse and present HR reports to support management decision-making.
  • Identify trends and patterns in HR data, translating findings into practical recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain HR reporting tools, dashboards and tracking mechanisms where required.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes through better system utilisation, automation and reporting practices.

Employee Wellness and Engagement

  • Support the planning and implementation of employee wellness and engagement initiatives.
  • Assist with initiatives that promote employee satisfaction, wellbeing and a positive workplace culture.
  • Engage regularly with employees to understand concerns, identify challenges and support appropriate resolutions.
  • Work with management to identify opportunities to improve the employee experience and strengthen retention.

Continuous Improvement and Stakeholder Support

  • Identify inefficiencies in existing HR processes and recommend practical, sustainable solutions.
  • Support the implementation of improved HR systems, processes and reporting frameworks.
  • Manage multiple priorities independently while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
  • Collaborate with management and relevant departments to ensure effective HR support across the organisation.
  • Take ownership of responsibilities and follow through on agreed actions without requiring constant supervision.

Minimum Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of solid, hands-on HR experience, ideally in an HR Generalist or HR Specialist role.
  • A relevant qualification in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Strong practical experience working with HRIS platforms, including employee data management, reporting and system administration.
  • A good understanding of HR compliance, employee relations, employment documentation, policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing, interpreting and presenting HR reports.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify trends and translate HR data into actionable recommendations.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with HR reporting tools.
  • Experience supporting employee wellness and engagement initiatives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • The ability to work independently, prioritise competing demands and take ownership in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Experience

The following will be advantageous:

  • Previous experience in healthcare, ABA therapy or another fast-paced service-based organisation.
  • Experience supporting US-based organisations and familiarity with US employment practices.
  • Experience implementing, configuring or improving HRIS platforms and HR processes.
  • Exposure to payroll administration or payroll systems.
  • Experience developing HR dashboards, reporting frameworks or process automation.
  • Previous experience mentoring or guiding junior team members.
  • Experience supporting organisational growth and improving HR processes in a scaling business.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who demonstrates the following qualities:

Analytical and data-driven: Confident working with HR data, identifying trends and presenting meaningful insights that support business decisions.

Technically capable: Comfortable using HRIS platforms, reporting tools and advanced Excel to maintain accurate records and improve HR operations.

Proactive and solutions-oriented: Identifies challenges early, takes initiative and recommends practical solutions rather than simply highlighting problems.

People-focused and approachable: Empathetic, professional and comfortable engaging with employees and management at different levels.

A confident communicator: Able to navigate sensitive conversations, explain HR processes clearly and build positive working relationships.

Organised and detail-oriented: Maintains accurate documentation, manages competing priorities and ensures compliance requirements are consistently met.

Adaptable and resilient: Comfortable working in a demanding, fast-moving environment where priorities may change.

Independent and accountable: Takes ownership of responsibilities, exercises sound judgement and follows through without constant supervision.

A future leader: Demonstrates maturity, initiative and the potential to take on greater responsibility as the organisation grows.

What Success Looks Like

The successful candidate will help ensure that HR operations run smoothly, employee records and HR systems remain accurate, compliance requirements are consistently met, and management has access to reliable HR data to inform decisions.

They will also contribute to a more efficient, proactive and people-focused HR function by identifying opportunities for improvement, supporting employee wellbeing and helping establish scalable HR processes as Golden Care Therapy continues to grow.

If you are an experienced HR professional who enjoys combining people-focused HR support with systems, analytics and continuous improvement, we would love to hear from you.
