They are responsible for maintaining accurate records, handling stakeholder queries, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies.

Job Purpose
As a Higher Clerical Assistant, you will provide administrative and financial support to Adult Social Services, ensuring the efficient management of payments, billing, financial assessments, records, and customer enquiries. You will support service users, providers, and internal teams while maintaining accurate financial and administrative systems.
Key Duties/Accountabilities
Support the administration of financial and business support systems.
Set up, maintain, and amend payments to care providers.
Set up, maintain, and amend service user charges and billing arrangements.
Monitor income and expenditure relating to care services.
Support debt recovery processes where required.
Prepare and issue contracts and contract variations to service providers.
Complete checks on financial assessments and reassessments.
Answer incoming calls and emails from service users, providers, and stakeholders.
Respond to queries from Case Managers and service users.
Maintain and update databases and computerised record systems.
Produce standard letters and correspondence.
Maintain spreadsheets and financial records.
Liaise with providers, agencies, and partner organisations.
Produce statistical and performance information as required.
Support training and development activities within the team.
Ensure compliance with safeguarding, equality, health and safety, and data protection requirements.
Essential Experience Required
Previous Administrative or Clerical experience.
Experience working with financial information and records.
Experience maintaining spreadsheets and databases.
Experience processing payments, invoices, or financial transactions.
Experience working in a customer service environment.
Experience handling telephone and email enquiries.
Experience working in a busy office environment.
Strong data entry and record management experience.
Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel.
Good attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Essential Qualifications Required
Good standard of education including literacy and numeracy skills.
Strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
Right to Work in the UK.
Additional Information to Note
Working hours: 37 hours per week.
Fully Remote role.
Location: Cardiff Council – Adult Social Services.
Experience in financial administration is highly desirable.
