Job Description:
The Strategy & Product Development Manager is responsible for driving the development, growth, and optimization of healthcare transportation solutions across UPS Healthcare's global logistics network. This role combines strategic planning, market intelligence, customer insights, product innovation, and cross-functional leadership to identify market opportunities, enhance healthcare logistics offerings, and accelerate profitable growth.
The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of healthcare supply chains, transportation and logistics solutions, customer needs, competitive market dynamics, and emerging industry trends. This individual will work closely with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Engineering, and Healthcare Solutions teams to develop and execute strategies that strengthen UPS Healthcare's market position and deliver differentiated value to customers across pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, laboratory, and healthcare provider segments.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy Development & Market Intelligence
- Develop and execute strategic initiatives that support revenue growth, market expansion, and product innovation within UPS Healthcare.
- Conduct comprehensive market assessments, including competitive benchmarking, SWOT analyses, customer research, and industry trend evaluations.
- Analyze market research, customer insights, and industry data to identify opportunities for new healthcare transportation products, service enhancements, and market repositioning strategies.
- Monitor healthcare logistics trends, regulatory developments, supply chain innovations, and competitive activities to anticipate customer needs and emerging market opportunities.
- Develop competitive analyses of healthcare transportation providers and assess market share performance by revenue, volume, and service segment.
Product Development & Innovation
- Lead the development and enhancement of healthcare transportation solutions, including temperature-controlled logistics, specialty transportation, critical shipment services, and supply chain visibility offerings.
- Conduct primary and secondary customer research to identify unmet needs and evaluate opportunities for innovative service offerings.
- Create business cases for strategic investments, including financial analysis, market opportunity assessment, customer value propositions, and expected return on investment.
- Define product positioning, go-to-market strategies, pricing recommendations, and value propositions for healthcare logistics solutions.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure product development initiatives align with customer requirements and enterprise objectives.
Customer & Industry Engagement
- Engage directly with healthcare customers, industry associations, and strategic partners to better understand market challenges and evolving logistics requirements.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for healthcare transportation solutions, supporting customer-facing teams with market insights, product messaging, and strategic recommendations.
- Maintain ongoing communication with healthcare industry stakeholders to gather feedback and identify opportunities for service improvements and innovation.
- Translate customer needs into actionable product development and operational improvement initiatives.
Cross-Functional Leadership & Business Execution
- Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Engineering, Finance, and Healthcare Solutions teams to develop and execute growth strategies.
- Lead stakeholder meetings to communicate new product offerings, strategic initiatives, market opportunities, and implementation plans.
- Present recommendations, business cases, and strategic findings to executive leadership and key decision-makers to secure approval and organizational support.
- Develop strategic messaging and training materials to support successful commercialization of healthcare logistics solutions.
Project & Program Management
- Manage end-to-end project lifecycles for strategic healthcare transportation initiatives, including planning, design, implementation, and deployment.
- Develop project plans, timelines, milestones, resource requirements, and governance frameworks to ensure successful execution.
- Coordinate cross-functional project teams and manage project risks, dependencies, and performance metrics.
- Monitor initiative performance and drive corrective actions to ensure achievement of business objectives.
- Measure and report on key performance indicators, including revenue growth, profitability, customer adoption, and operational effectiveness.
Financial & Business Performance Management
- Manage the revenue growth and profitability of assigned healthcare solutions and strategic initiatives.
- Analyze product and service performance to identify improvements that enhance market competitiveness and financial returns.
- Develop forecasts, business models, and performance analyses to guide investment decisions and resource allocation.
- Recommend strategic actions that improve customer value, market share, and long-term business growth.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain Management, Healthcare Administration, Engineering, Logistics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in strategy, product management, business development, consulting, healthcare logistics, transportation, or supply chain management.
- Experience developing business cases, growth strategies, and product commercialization plans.
- Strong analytical skills with experience interpreting market research, customer data, financial metrics, and competitive intelligence.
- Demonstrated project management experience leading cross-functional initiatives.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to influence senior leaders and drive alignment across complex organizations.
Preferred
- MBA or advanced degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
- Experience in healthcare transportation, pharmaceutical logistics, cold chain management, medical device supply chains, or healthcare operations.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations and quality requirements, including GDP, FDA, and healthcare logistics standards.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $8,110 monthly in our lowest geographic market up to $15,025 monthly in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to, market location and may vary depending on job related knowledge, skills, and education/training and a candidate’s work experience. Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
