Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Mathematica seeks a Health Informatics & Interoperability Lead to provide strategic, technical, and subject matter leadership across health information interoperability, health informatics, digital health, clinical quality measurement and improvement, and value-based care initiatives. This individual will help shape and advance Mathematica’s interoperability and Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) strategy and capabilities and provide senior-level guidance to multidisciplinary teams working at the intersection of health policy, clinical data, health information technology, quality measurement, data standards, and technology.

The Health Informatics & Interoperability Lead will work across a diverse portfolio of federal, state, and other health care initiatives focused on modernizing health data infrastructure, improving the exchange and use of health information, advancing digital quality measurement, and strengthening data-driven health care delivery and public health. Clients and partners include agencies within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, such as the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), as well as state health and public health agencies and other organizations across the health care ecosystem.

The Health Informatics & Interoperability Lead will bring deep expertise in health information technology standards, interoperability frameworks, clinical and administrative data, terminology and coding, and the exchange and use of health information across systems. This individual will apply technical and strategic knowledge of FHIR, HL7 standards, implementation guides, application programming interfaces (APIs), health information exchange, clinical data models, terminology standards, and related technologies to support interoperable data solutions across a range of health care use cases (including public health). The role will also provide thought leadership and oversight in digital quality measurement and related interoperability applications, including FHIR-based quality measurement, electronic clinical quality measures, and clinical decision support.

The individual will lead and mentor technical staff, contribute to business development and capability building, and represent Mathematica with clients, partners, and national standards and interoperability communities. As a senior leader in a growing area of Mathematica’s portfolio, this individual will help identify and shape new opportunities, strengthen Mathematica’s interoperability capabilities, and will apply interoperability expertise across existing and emerging projects.

This opportunity is available on either a full- or part-time basis.

Core Responsibilities:
