Position Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of UK Programmes position within the Fundraising department. The Head of UK Programmes will be responsible for   heading UK Programmes across the UK – including building and maintaining a strong network of key stakeholders and partners, fundraising, implementing, planning and efficient project management. Responsible for designing and implementing Human Appeal UK programme strategy and projects, ensuring Design proposals and concept notes meet programme aims and objectives. Responsible for ensuring feedback is gained on UK projects to provide updates and progress reports to donors and key stake holders. Also responsible for developing and maintaining relations with a wide range of institutional partners under the donors framework. All in order to ensure Human Appeal’s UK Programmes are effectively devised and implemented in line with Human Appeal’s Values and Strategic Key Priorities, ensuring the charity makes a positive difference in the UK and to enhance the organisation’s reputation.

 

Main Responsibilities:

The Head of UK Programmes will be responsible to:


  • Develop and implement Human Appeal UK programming strategy and funding handbook through consultation with key internal stakeholder as well as the local government key areas of priorities.
  • Work with other members of the Programmes Department and other Human Appeal departments through regular meetings to update new organisational strategies and plans as required.
  • Responsible for the completion of UK strategic priorities as dictated by the overall department/ organisational strategy by ensuring HA has great presence within civil societies in Greater Manchester and that we play key role in influencing.
  • Lead organisational networking requirements across the UK with identified and agreed stakeholders by attending key events, conferences, ensuring the reason of attendance is obtained to ensure Human Appeal is participated in various events.
  • Raising the profile of Human Appeal in the UK charity sector through networking and representation on appropriate platforms by fostering relationship with key partners and enhancing great relationship with local council and educate our team to promote the work of Human Appeal with everyone they meet via good stories.
  • Prepare annual business plan for UK-based programme and set an annual target for the programme by identifying all sources of funds against ROI.
  • Prepare donors framework though Identifying potential sources of funding and cooperation for UK programming from a range of traditional and non-traditional donors, networks, other charities, partners, corporate, trusts, universities, etc. in coordination with Human Appeal Fundraising Department as well as Human Appeal Programmes Department's partnership and institutional fundraising managers.
  • Research for opportunities of funding from local trusts, foundations and institutional donors. Develop proposals for institutional donors.
  • Lead and Support any fundraising activities/campaigns related to UK-based programme project by work closely with Head of Campaign, provide feedback on campaign brief, send context report on UK programmes and influence price handle/stories to ensure the success of the campaign.
  • Responsible to conduct a regular and close monitoring for UK based projects through regular field visit to ensure the effectiveness of the delivery and implementation and ensuring alignment with the programme strategy and organisation’s strategic plan.
  • Responsible for partner selection to in the UK by providing profile for each partner, brand value and the PR impact to ensure local partners are selected professionally considering Human Appeal values.
  • Responsible for financial management for the implemented projects in the UK, through regular review to the project’s expenditure to ensure budget utilization and spending target are met per project.
  • Responsible for implementing partners' performance and delivery of capacity building as-required through calling for regular meetings and progress report which assess project performance against objectives to ensure the partners are capable to implement the project.
  • Work closely with Fundraising Department through regular consultation and updates to support the establishment of UK surge capacity roster and also to ensure needed pre-deployment training, support/ lead.
  • Lead on the establishment overall campaign strategies through a clear advocacy and influencing drivers and ensure they remain up-to-date, relevant and interlinked to broader Human Appeal humanitarian and development programming priorities.
  • Work closely in coalition with a wide-range of UK, EU-based and global organisations and think-tanks through daily communication with these parties to undertake and/ or arrange research, policy position papers, briefings, blogs, videos, discussions, conferences, etc. on subject matters relevant to Human Appeal’s work.
  • Monitor trends and developments in relevant policy areas, update internal colleagues of these developments and where relevant influence the direction of these developments in line with Human Appeal priorities by setting various email alert, sign up to circulation and work with PR and external relation to ensure HA perspective is shared with relevant sources.



NB: Employee duties are not limited only to the above-mentioned responsibilities; they may perform other duties as assigned



Candidate essential criteria:

  • Graduate, ideally in a related field such as Social Sciences
  • Minimum 6 years of experience working in a related field within the Charity Sector
  • MS Office Suite, English language
  • English Language



Candidate desirable criteria:

  • Additional language skills e.g. Spanish, French, Arabic, Urdu
