AI Summary

The Head of Marketing will build and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy across both professional-services and software business units. This role involves hands-on creation of campaigns, content, and sales materials while optimizing marketing operations and AI-driven workflows.

Head of Marketing, B2B Growth

If you are a hands-on B2B marketing builder who wants real ownership—not a large inherited team—this is an opportunity to build the marketing engine for an established, growing B2B organization with complementary professional-services and software offerings. You will have meaningful autonomy, a broad mandate, and compensation of $165,000–$200,000 to personally shape the strategy, messaging, campaigns, enablement, measurement, and AI-enabled workflows that help the business scale.

The Opportunity

Our client is an established B2B organization with both relationship-led professional-services revenue and recurring software revenue. The company has grown through strong market relationships and selective marketing support, and now needs one accountable marketing owner to create a more repeatable, measurable, modern growth function.

This is initially a true department-of-one role. You may use contractors or vendors where they create leverage, but this is not a strategy-only executive seat and not a people-management-first role. The right person wants to build the plan, write the copy, shape positioning, launch campaigns, improve systems, and create momentum before every condition is perfect.

The Mandate

You will own marketing across two related but different B2B commercial motions: a relationship-led services business and a software business with recurring revenue dynamics. Success requires commercial judgment, fast learning, strong execution, and the ability to produce credible work quickly in a complex B2B environment.

What You Will Own

  • Build and run a focused marketing plan tied to company goals, revenue priorities, sales needs, campaign opportunities, and measurable progress.
  • Clarify ICPs, buyer problems, positioning, offers, messaging, and channel priorities across professional-services and software motions.
  • Personally create and improve campaigns, landing pages, email, LinkedIn content, thought leadership, case studies, event follow-up, and sales materials.
  • Translate complex B2B topics into clear, credible, buyer-relevant messaging without relying on generic agency output or low-quality AI content.
  • Build a consistent content, campaign, and demand-generation engine that improves shipping velocity, market visibility, and sales usefulness.
  • Partner with senior leaders, sales, product, and subject-matter experts to turn business insight into practical marketing work without becoming a reactive ticket-taker.
  • Improve marketing operations, funnel visibility, reporting, testing, and decision-making from imperfect historical data.
  • Use vendors selectively, rationalize spend, and increase output per dollar while staying personally close enough to the work to raise quality.

What Success Looks Like

In the first year, you will establish a clear marketing plan and operating cadence, create a usable messaging foundation, launch a steady content and campaign rhythm, improve measurement, and build repeatable sales-enablement and event-follow-up motions. The business should see clearer priorities, better marketing throughput, stronger stakeholder trust, and measurable progress in qualified demand, engagement, pipeline influence, or another agreed commercial indicator.

Required Qualifications

  • Substantive B2B marketing experience. This is not a consumer-marketing role.
  • Recent, genuine department-of-one or extremely lean-team ownership where you personally produced and shipped work.
  • Broad experience across demand generation, positioning, content, campaigns, sales enablement, marketing operations, and measurement.
  • Ability to set strategy and execute: you can write, launch, analyze, iterate, and improve the work yourself.
  • Strong copy judgment and the writing ability to make complex B2B topics clear, specific, and commercially useful.
  • Enough visual taste to prevent generic, off-brand, or visibly low-quality output, whether you create assets yourself or direct others.
  • Demonstrable AI-native execution through real workflows, agents, automations, prototypes, campaigns, analysis, or shipped work products—not just familiarity with tools.
  • Comfort creating practical measurement and making decisions despite messy data or incomplete historical reporting.
  • Fast learning, entrepreneurial ownership, prioritization, follow-through, and low-ego partnership with senior stakeholders.
  • Commercial understanding that relationship-led professional-services revenue and recurring software revenue require different marketing motions.
  • Remote United States availability with strong alignment to East Coast working hours.

Preferred Background

Experience marketing both B2B professional services and B2B software is strongly preferred because this role spans two different commercial motions. That said, experience in both is not an automatic knockout if you bring exceptional B2B experience, strong commercial judgment, fast learning, and credible transferable evidence.

Helpful backgrounds may include hands-on Head of Marketing, Director of Marketing, Senior Marketing Manager, Demand Generation, Growth Marketing, or broad B2B marketing ownership in a resource-constrained startup, growth company, professional-services firm, software company, regulated industry, or other complex B2B environment.

AI-Enabled Work Demonstration

Finalists should expect to demonstrate a real AI-enabled marketing workflow they have built or used in practice. The goal is to understand how you research, draft, automate, analyze, validate, and apply judgment—not to reward tool lists or generic prompting language.

Work Model, Travel, and Compensation

  • Remote role for U.S.-based candidates.
  • Strong alignment with East Coast working hours is required.
  • Occasional travel for company meetings, industry events, or conferences may be required.
  • Compensation range: $165,000–$200,000 annually.

Compensation

The expected total compensation range is USD 165,000–200,000 Yearly.
