The GoldenGate Engineer will design, deploy, and optimize Oracle GoldenGate architectures to support Veterans Affairs operational data needs. Responsibilities include managing relational database structures, ensuring data integrity, and maintaining automated replication workflows between Azure and the Corporate Data Warehouse.
GovCIO is currently hiring a talented and experienced GoldenGate Engineer to focus on designing, implementing, and optimizing SQL server and database solutions to support Veterans Affairs operational needs. This position leads database architecture, resolves advanced issues, and drives performance enhancements. This position will be fully remote located within the United States.
Responsibilities- Provide expert-level Oracle GoldenGate support to include design, deployment, upgrades, administration, performance, and troubleshooting across both Classic and Microservices architectures
- Design and maintain relational database structures, backup/recovery procedures, and access controls to ensure data integrity, availability, and security
- Execute and maintain Azure-to-CDW automated replication workflows using Oracle GoldenGate
- Troubleshoot issues with minimal operational disruption
- Author and edit technical documentation; follow change control processes and instructions
- Quickly ramp up on Veterans Affairs Corporate Data Warehouse operations and adapt to new tools/technologies in a dynamic environment
- Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
QualificationsRequired Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's with 12+ years (or commensurate experience)
- Expert-level, hands-on experience with Oracle GoldenGate (design, deployment, upgrades, administration, troubleshooting)
- Strong hands-on experience with SQL Server, including performance tuning, T-SQL, and stored procedures
- Solid understanding of relational database theory and advanced SQL
- Experience with database security, backup/recovery, and API integration for automation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to work independently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Ability to obtain and maintain a suitability/Public Trust
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience with large-scale federal or enterprise data environments, including very large databases
- Familiarity with cloud data architectures, particularly Microsoft Azure
- Experience with data warehousing concepts and enterprise reporting ecosystems
- Knowledge of ETL/ELT pipelines and automation workflows
- Experience with low-code/no-code platforms (SharePoint, Power BI, Jira, Confluence)
- Relevant certifications (Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator, or equivalent)
