GIS Developer

Overview

NV5 is seeking a GIS Developer to work directly with its federal government client in Colorado. The successful candidate will have specific technical skills and expertise to enhance reporting and application improvements to the current land use planning decisions database through user engagement. This initiative will transform the system into a more effective web mapping application within the federal mission services data infrastructure, serving all federal offices. The national application currently manages complex and extensive data related to land use planning decisions.

Work Setting:  This role offers flexibility in location, with the option to work from any NV5 Regional Office or remotely from home. Occasional travel may be required, typically less than 20%.

Responsibilities

• Enhance the current land use planning decisions database. 
• Transform the system into a more effective web mapping application. 
• Ensure quick and easy retrieval of data through the existing IT infrastructure. 
• Utilize Power BI to create interactive and dynamic reports and dashboards. 
• Integrate Power BI with ArcGIS for enhanced mapping and spatial analysis. 
• Explore Azure Maps 
• Create and maintain data and metadata management automation scripts, batch processes using federal metadata tools, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online (AGOL), Python, R, SQL scripts, and/or other data and metadata management software. 
• Develop processes to improve data retrieval speeds including analysis of current data processing and infrastructure such as ArcGIS Server, SDE and ArcGIS Portal through the ESRI Experience Application.  
• Develop and improve Power BI apps to access data and create reports from Geospatial Analysis in conjunction with ESRI Experience Apps.

• Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting federal land-use planning, environmental management, or natural resource programs.
  • Knowledge of federal geospatial policies, standards, and mission-support systems.
  • Experience with Azure Maps capabilities, including vector tiles, routing, geocoding, spatial operations, and cloud-based mapping services.
  • Familiarity with AI and emerging technology guidance applicable to federal environmental, planning, and geospatial programs.

   

  Education/Experience

  • 5 years of application development experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, or related field.
