AI Summary

Build, test, and support key components of a next-generation insurance platform, including APIs, data pipelines, and self-service portals. Collaborate with product and architecture teams to translate requirements into clean, production-ready code using AI-assisted tools.

About Us:

At Everly, our vision is to change the paradigm of insurance. We know life insurance can be confusing and complex. We know that most people purchase life insurance at a milestone moment and file it away for the future. We want to change how people think about, buy, and use life insurance by being a partner in life’s journey.  We are focused on making things that matter, making meaningful connections, and making things work WAY better. Our goal is to provide radically transparent, consumer-first insurance solutions.

We are looking for people with a continuous improvement mindset. Those who think the opposite of “This is how we’ve always done it”. We want people on our team who are always asking “How can we do this better?”

Our company values are a guide to our behavior and help inform our decisions.  We want people who embody those values of breaking down barriers, owning the outcome, embracing the journey, and sparking joy.

This is a remote position based in the US with occasional travel.

About the role:

We are seeking a Full Stack Developer to build, test, and support key components of our next-generation insurance platform. This is a hands-on engineering role where you will contribute across the full stack — APIs, event-driven integrations, data pipelines, and self-service portals — working within an established architecture alongside a small, high-velocity team.

You will work closely with the Product Owner, Solution Architect, and Senior Engineers to translate well-defined requirements into clean, testable, production-ready code. You will be guided by architectural patterns and platform standards that are already in place, with growing opportunity to contribute to design decisions as you deepen your domain knowledge.

The ideal candidate brings solid full-stack engineering fundamentals, an openness to AI-assisted development tooling, and a genuine eagerness to learn the insurance domain. You don’t need to have all the answers — but you must be curious, thorough, and committed to shipping things that work correctly in production.

What You’ll Do:

  • Contribute to the build of platform capabilities — writing clean, well-tested code that follows established service contracts, event schemas, and data models
  • Build, test, and support services across their full lifecycle, from initial development through to production, taking accountability for the quality of your own work
  • Work within API-first, event-driven patterns following agreed platform architecture and governance standards under the guidance of engineering lead
  • Use AI-assisted engineering tools as a standard part of your daily workflow to write, validate, and refactor code more effectively
  • Implement integrations with the policy administration system and internal service dependencies, following established patterns and contracts
  • Build out workflow features that support insurance processes such as underwriting and policy issuance, working from well-scoped requirements
  • Collaborate with the Product Owner, Solution Architect, and teammates to understand requirements clearly, ask good questions, and flag risks early
  • Apply security and compliance patterns — identity, access control, encryption, and data handling — consistently and correctly in every feature you deliver
  • Maintain testing quality writing unit, integration, and E2E tests as part of every piece of work
  • Participate in code reviews giving and receiving feedback constructively

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of delivering features end-to-end on a production system
  • Solid proficiency in TypeScript / Node.js and practical experience building and deploying services on cloud-native infrastructure
  • Working experience with event-driven or asynchronous integration patterns and an understanding of why they matter in distributed systems
  • Comfort using AI-assisted development tooling in day-to-day engineering work and a willingness to make it a core part of how you operate
  • Familiarity with both document and relational database models, and the ability to write correct, efficient queries against each
  • Foundational understanding of security and compliance practices — authentication, authorisation, secrets handling, and secure data storage
  • Disciplined approach to testing — unit, integration, and E2E — with the habit of writing tests alongside code, not after

Preferred

  • Exposure to insurance or fintech — even as a user or in an adjacent role — and genuine curiosity to go deeper in the domain
  • Some familiarity with compliance-aware development — HIPAA, SOC2, or PCI-DSS — and what it means in practice for a shipping product
  • Experience working in a startup or scaling team where you have had to pick things up quickly and deliver without a lot of hand-holding
