OVERVIEW

The Water Valley Company is seeking an independent Video Editor to provide editing services to its Community Relations & Marketing department on a project basis. The contractor will turn raw footage into finished videos for marketing campaigns, community events, real estate and corporate communications, and social media posts. We are looking for a skilled storyteller with proven expertise with a professional NLE, preferably DaVinci Resolve.

SCOPE OF SERVICES

  • Edit raw footage into finished videos for marketing, social media, community events, real estate, and corporate communications.
  • Assemble, cut, and pace content to meet the creative brief, brand standards, and platform requirements.
  • Perform color correction and color grading, including building and applying LUTs for a consistent look.
  • Mix and sweeten audio, add music, sound effects, titles and graphics.
  • Create motion graphics and visual effects when included in the project scope.
  • Deliver final files in the formats specified for each project (web, social, broadcast or presentation).
  • Incorporate feedback within the revision rounds agreed for each project.
  • Deliver completed work by the deadlines agreed for each project.
  • Keep all company, client and project information confidential in line with the signed NDA.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Proven experience editing complete, client-ready video projects.
  • Proficiency in at least one professional non-linear editor (NLE) listed below.
  • Own computer, editing software licenses, and equipment needed to perform the work.
  • Strong sense of storytelling, pacing, and visual composition.
  • Willingness to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) before beginning work.

Preferred

  • 3+ years of professional video editing experience.
  • Color grading experience, including working with LUTs.
  • Proficiency in Adobe After Effects for motion graphics and effects.
  • Experience editing wedding, real estate, or corporate video.
  • An established freelance or video editing business serving other clients.

RATE AND PAYMENT

The rate for this engagement is $300 per project, depending on experience and project scope.

The contractor invoices The Water Valley Company monthly, with payment due [Net 30] from receipt of invoice. A completed Form W-9 is required before the first payment, and a Form 1099-NEC will be issued annually.

As an independent contractor, the selected editor is responsible for their own taxes, insurance, and business expenses, and is not eligible for employee benefits.

WORKING ARRANGEMENT

  • The contractor sets their own work hours and work location and determines how the work is performed.
  • The Water Valley Company defines each project's deliverables, deadlines, and number of revision rounds.
  • The contractor is free to provide services to other clients, subject to the NDA.
  • Occasional on-site meetings or event coverage may be arranged by mutual agreement.
  • The contractor provides their own transportation and insurance for any on-site work.
  • When on company premises or at company events, the contractor must follow the company's safety, harassment-free, drug-free, and nonsmoking policies.

CONFIDENTIALITY AND OWNERSHIP OF WORK

  • All deliverables, raw footage, and project files become the property of The Water Valley Company.
  • Project footage and finished videos may not be posted, shared publicly, or used in a portfolio or reel without the company's written approval.
  • At the end of each project or the engagement, the contractor must return or delete all company footage and files and give up any system or drive access.
  • The contractor must sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement and an Independent Contractor Agreement before beginning work.
