Forward Deployed Specialist - HR Technology

Join WTW's HR Technology team as a Forward Deployed Engineer, working directly with HR leaders to turn complex people problems into working technology — using AI, automation, or existing platforms, not a predetermined tool. You'll take ideas from discovery through rapid prototyping to a production-ready solution, partnering across a global team spanning HR, technology and engineering. This is a hands-on, high-visibility role for someone who wants to help shape how WTW builds HR technology.

The Forward Deployed Engineer sits at the intersection of HR, technology, product, process and transformation, partnering with HR leaders, Global Process Owners (GPOs), Centres of Excellence, HR Service Delivery and Corporate Applications to solve complex business problems and create better employee, manager and HR experiences. FDEs work through WTW's agreed Enterprise Transformation Design & Delivery Framework — from problem definition through solution design, prototyping, validation and production readiness — rather than a separate FDE process. 

The role is technology-agnostic: depending on the delivery archetype and team capacity, an FDE may lead an initiative directly, or own a specific accountability (such as integration, data or MCP delivery) inside a POD led by a GCO or Corporate Applications colleague. Whichever way an initiative is resourced, the FDE remains the solution and business authority throughout. This role also deputizes for the Director, HRIT FDE and Design when required. The role is based in London and offers a fully remote working arrangement. We are open to considering candidates from any location where WTW has an established office, including locations outside the UK. Given the global nature of the role, candidates should be flexible in supporting both UK and US time zones.

The Role:

• Partner directly with HR leaders, process owners and business stakeholders to understand problems and user needs before proposing any solution.

• Evaluate the right approach for each problem — AI, automation, existing enterprise platforms, process redesign, or new technology — rather than defaulting to one tool.

• Design and build rapid prototypes to test critical assumptions before committing to significant investment.

• Validate solutions against clear success measures, incorporating stakeholder feedback and real-world testing.

• Guide successful prototypes through to production-ready delivery, working closely with engineering and platform teams.

• Build tools, methods and reusable assets in a specialist area over time and help coach others on the team.

Qualifications

What you'll bring:

• Experience in HR technology, digital transformation, product, consulting, or process transformation.
• Strong understanding of HR processes and how they connect to business outcomes.
• Proven ability to lead discovery and stakeholder engagement in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
• Experience designing or building digital solutions — automation, AI-enabled tools, or technology-enabled processes.
• Competent with Copilot, Cowork, Claude, Lyzr or similar tools
• Competent with Power Apps, Power Automate, Sharepoint, O365 apps 
• Comfortable working hands-on with new technology and confident translating between business and technical audiences.
• Able to build software or drive a prototype through to production, either directly or by directing others through the technical steps.
• A bonus: Enterprise HR platforms, APIs/MCP integrations, product management, vendor evaluation, or responsible AI practices.
