We are looking for an analytical and detail-oriented Financial Controller to take over revenue recognition, contract compliance, and project financial controlling activities.

If you have experience in the IT/Software environment, understand the dynamics of project profitability, contract structures (Fixed Price, Time & Material, Dedicated Teams), and are used to a fast-paced monthly closing cycle, we want to meet you.

As a Financial Controller, you will:

1. Contract Compliance

  • Work closely with the Sales and Legal teams throughout the contracting process, reviewing new contracts, SOWs, and amendments from a financial perspective (payment terms, milestones, billing clauses, FX clauses, T&M vs. Fixed Price provisions).

  • Flag contractual risks or ambiguities with potential impact on revenue treatment, invoicing, or cash flow, and work with Sales and Legal to resolve them before signature.

  • Act as the finance gatekeeper ensuring contract terms are aligned with internal financial policies and revenue recognition requirements ahead of deal closure.

  • Maintain a tracker of active contracts and the terms relevant to revenue treatment.

2. Revenue Recognition

  • Determine and apply the correct revenue recognition method based on contract type, and ensure alignment with applicable accounting standards.

  • Act as the main finance point of contact for Project Managers on contract clarifications, project setup, and revenue treatment.

  • Coordinate with Project Managers on project setup in the ERP to ensure billing and revenue structures correctly reflect the underlying contract.

  • Track project execution against contract terms (percentage of completion, milestones, scope changes) to ensure accurate monthly revenue recognition.

3. Project-Level Controlling

  • Monitor project profitability and identify deviations from budget or target margins.

  • Analyze direct delivery costs and indirect cost allocation across projects.

4. Monthly Closing & Reporting

  • Perform periodic reconciliations between recognized revenue, invoiced amounts, and cash collected.

  • Support month-end/quarter-end close activities from a revenue perspective, including accruals, deferred revenue, and WIP.

  • Contribute to the group reporting package with detailed project-level revenue and margin analysis.

5. Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Accounting to ensure correct revenue booking.

  • Support internal/external audit requests related to revenue recognition.

What about you?
  • Experience: Minimum 2-4 years in controlling / financial analysis, of which at least 1-2 years in an IT, Software Development, or Professional Services company, with exposure to revenue recognition .

  • Project Controlling: Advanced understanding of IT business models (Time & Material vs. Fixed Price, utilization rate, and project margin).

  • Contracts: Ability to read and interpret contractual/financial clauses, and comfortable working closely with Legal and Sales on deal review.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Advanced Excel.

    • Experience with ERP/EPM systems (Dynamics 365 is a plus) and project management/time tracking tools (Jira is a plus).

  • Foreign Languages: Advanced level of English (written and spoken).

  • Education: University degrees in Economics, Finance, or Accounting.

If you think this role is a fit for you, let us get to know you better! There are a couple of steps left:
  • A get-to-know-you discussion with your recruiter, Alexandra.

  • A technical discussion with our CFO and a member of the team.

  • A final discussion with the team to ensure cultural and strategic fit.

Our recruitment process is designed to foster diversity, equity, and inclusion. We are committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to thrive.
