The Financial Analyst position is located within the Contracts and Finance department and reports to the Finance Manager. This position will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, monitoring, and forecasting financial data to ensure responsible stewardship of WIDA’s financial resources.
The Financial Analyst will use WIDA’s financial planning and analysis software to provide leadership with the best possible data to support informed decision-making. This role will also serve as the primary contact for assigned department leadership on all matters, contracts, and finance, and act as a finance Subject Matter Expert (SME) on cross-departmental projects as assigned.
Additional responsibilities include performing procurement-related activities and invoicing customers as required. Successful candidates will be able to act as a trusted business partner to other WIDA team members, serving as an expert in the School of Education and the University of Wisconsin's finance policies and procedures.
Remote work is an option for this position on a voluntary basis; however, it is important to note that this role is headquartered in Madison, WI, and the tasks of the position require occasional work-related travel. If working remotely out-of-state, travel back to UW-Madison would not be reimbursable, and other business travel will require cost comparisons between your home and Madison, WI.

WIDA operates in a Windows-based environment and a Dell PC laptop will be issued for use in this role. Software and virtual connection tools that are critical to our work dictate that WIDA staff work on a PC.
School of Education / WIDA
Minimum: $60,601.00 annually
Commensurate with qualifications and experience. At least 1 year of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, or accounting, including experience in data gathering, financial modeling, and forecasting.
Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with the ability to learn and adapt to new financial systems and tools.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to analyze data and develop reports.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy in financial analysis and reporting.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve issues effectively.
Experience working effectively with cross-functional teams.
Experience in higher education, government, or complex organizational finance environments
Experience working with financial planning and analysis software (preferably, Planful or similar tools), and ERP systems such as Workday, PeopleSoft, SAP, or similar platforms.
