The salary offered for this role is determined with consideration to various factors, including but not limited to: your work location, local labour market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity and the knowledge, skills, experience and anticipated proficiency in the role. The salary offered is estimated to be within the following range: $80,000 - $96,000. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are still encouraged to apply.

Job Overview

As a Field Catastrophe Claims Representative, this role supports customers and communities impacted by natural disasters, catastrophe events, and complex property losses by inspecting, investigating, estimating, and adjusting residential and commercial claims using industry estimating software. Working with a high degree of independence, this position involves travel across Canada, often on short notice and potentially for extended periods, to provide on-site support during catastrophic loss events.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Inspect, investigate, estimate, and adjust residential and commercial property claims, including catastrophe, complex, and assigned losses.
  • Travel across Canada, often on short notice, to support catastrophe response and regional claims operations.
  • Apply policy, regulatory, and Occupational Health and Safety requirements when assessing claims and communicating decisions.
  • Collaborate with contractors, adjusters, policyholders, and stakeholders to deliver timely, customer-focused claim outcomes.
  • Prepare and review repair estimates, complete re-inspections, and support dispute resolution as needed.
  • Maintain clear, accurate claim notes and documentation, keeping systems of record current and complete.
  • Follow established policies, procedures, and standard work documentation to support consistent, compliant claim handling.
  • Stay current on property repair procedures, materials, estimating practices, and industry developments.
  • Support training and knowledge sharing to build technical capability across the team.
  • Recommend expert support or specialized vendors, such as engineers or contents evaluation firms, when required.
  • Assist with large, complex, or escalated claims using strong technical judgment and collaboration.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of property field adjusting experience, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of property repair estimates and Xactware.
  • Valid driver’s licence and a satisfactory driving record.
  • Working towards, or completed, Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation.
  • Ability to travel within Canada on short notice, potentially for extended periods.
  • Ability to work approved overtime as required.
  • Ability to adapt and respond effectively to changing situations, requirements, and priorities.
  • Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate, train, and mentor others.
  • Clear, concise communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to different audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong negotiation and settlement skills.
  • Strong client service orientation, with the ability to anticipate needs and provide empathetic support.
  • Post-secondary education is considered an asset.
  • Bilingualism in French and English is considered an asset.
