Position Summary: The Export Control/Compliance Manager NA is responsible for ensuring that the organization adheres to industry standards, legal requirements, and regulations governing export controlled goods, services and technical data, and other compliance matters. This includes compliance with laws such as the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS). The role involves reviewing customer and government documentation, operational practices, and implementing compliance strategies to ensure timely and accurate reporting and activities. The manager will also work to maintain due dates and schedules for compliance-related tasks.
Essential Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities): The primary duties consist of, but are not limited to the following:
Ensure compliance with ITAR, EAR, DFARS, and other applicable export control and other regulations.
Maintain a thorough understanding of the regulatory environment and industry standards to ensure the organization’s compliance.
Identify and assess compliance risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
Review customer and government documents to ensure proper handling of sensitive export-controlled information.
Coordinate with each plant to ensure they enforce physical security requirements for the protection of export controlled products, services and technical data.
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate and timely processing of export compliance documents, to include IT and GMs.
Maintain records of compliance-related activities, including licenses, approvals, and certifications, to include preparing, submitting and monitoring export license/agreements and related reporting.
Create and enforce compliance plans tailored to the organization's needs, including setting up and maintaining schedules for compliance tasks and monitor progress toward established goals.
Provide training to employees on export control regulations and other compliance requirements.
Stay informed about changes in laws, regulations, and industry standards and update internal policies and procedures and advise leadership as needed.
Conduct internal audits to ensure ongoing compliance with export control regulations and other compliance requirements.
Prepare reports for management and government agencies as required by applicable laws and regulations.
Respond to audit findings and implement corrective actions as necessary.
Collaborate with legal, operations, sales, IT, HR and procurement teams to address export control and other compliance issues.
Work with external stakeholders, including government agencies and third-party auditors, to ensure compliance.
Manage platform Procurement Integrated Enterprise Environment (a.k.a. PIEE and/or SPRS) in conjunction with DFARS Requirements.
Maintain supplier surveys related to Cybersecurity compliance.
Coordinate investigations of matters that merit investigation under the compliance program; overseeing follow-up and, as applicable, resolution to investigations and other issues generated by the compliance program, including development of corrective action plans, as needed (file voluntary disclosures for ITAR violations, etc.)
Perform other relevant duties as assigned.

This position must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements, therefore candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holders.
Bachelor’s degree in business, legal studies, international relations or a related field.
5-7 years of experience in export control compliance or a related field.
In-depth knowledge of ITAR, EAR, DFARS, and other relevant export control regulations.
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in auditing, analytics, reporting, compliance, regulatory or a related field.
Experience effectively communicating and presenting to various levels of the organization.
Certification in export compliance or related fields a plus (e.g., Certified Export Compliance Professional - CECP).
Experience in a manufacturing or defense contracting environment.
Familiarity with government contracts and federal acquisition regulations.
Ability to assess and research policies/laws through various sources to gather full understanding of pertinent information; ability to conduct extensive research and analyze various different types of data.
Demonstrated ability to report out findings in a concise manner and communicate/distribute to colleagues.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to include interpersonal effectiveness to interact within all levels of the organization.
Ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues by using judgment that is consistent with the standards, practices, policies, procedures and federal, state, and local regulations.
Ability to prioritize and efficiently execute a high volume and broad scope of tasks within tight deadlines.
Strong sense of business ethics including the ability to appropriately handle confidential information.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to collaborate with others to effectively fulfill assignments and support business needs.
Physical & Mental Demands:
Must be able to work in a sitting position for extended periods of time (at desk, while driving, and/or on airplane travel) in an office/industrial environment.
Manual dexterity to perform data entry functions.
Ability to bend, pull, stoop and reach to perform functions.
Ability to lift 25-30 lbs.
May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity, etc.
Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.
Ability to hear in person and via phone.
While limited, some overnight travel maybe required.
