Summary
The Epic Professional Billing Team Lead role is integral to the growth and development of our application teams. This high-performing, individual contributor role is a blend of application expertise, escalation management, delegation, and mentorship. A typical breakdown of team lead duties would be:
Application Expertise (25%)
Support analysts in solving complex and integrated issues
Evaluate scope and feasibility for potential projects
Lead key application efforts (e.g., Upgrade, Optimization projects)
Client Relationships (15%)
Build rapport with operational contacts
Support analysts with issue escalation management
Mentorship and Team Skills Development (25%)
Serve as application SME for integrated teammates and for analysts with questions about configuration best practices
Develop and lead skill development program(s) for PB and Claims analysts
Team Workload Management (20%)
Provide first-level triage for incoming ticket queue, escalating to manager/director as necessary
Oversee analyst compliance with SLA requirements
Workload Balance (15%)
Complete Service Request (Jira) tickets as assigned
Serve as backup to analysts when staff volume is reduced
A successful Epic Professional Billing Team Lead brings a high degree of organization and attention to detail as well as experience building Epic Professional Billing and Claims in a variety of settings. The Team Lead will be accountable for understanding and managing the operational requirements of Planned Parenthood affiliates and work closely with other project team members to ensure such requirements are translated successfully in Epic.
Essential Functions
Effectively and accurately tracking Jira tickets to understand and communicate priorities of work in the queue and assigned to analysts
Developing relationships with Planned Parenthood affiliates, always maintaining open lines of communication with clients to understand and address their needs effectively.
Translating knowledge of best practice PB/Claims/RTE design, build, and testing techniques throughout both implementation and ongoing support phases.
Leading complex and/or large-scale optimization projects from design through build and ongoing support
Mentoring analysts on high-profile or escalated ticket resolution
Working with and mentoring project team members and other analysts to design, build, and test system designs related to PB/Claims/RTE applications. Serve as a liaison with vendors as required.
Spearheading readiness activities for affiliates prior to implementation and post live activities during stabilization periods, including collaboration across applications (e.g., Patient Access and Clinical) and across teams (e.g., Training).
Able to jump in to backfill team members
Maintaining regular communication with Epic representatives, including participating in all project team meetings.
Serving as an expert resource for analyst team members to discuss and manage the status of deliverables, shared issues, end user concerns, and upcoming milestones.
Leading onboarding and mentorship program for new hires and continuing education efforts for existing analysts.

Education and/or Experience
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of experience/training
Experience: Minimum of 3 to 5 years of prior Epic experience required
Current certification in Resolute Professional Billing Administration Skills

Prior experience working with health systems as a Professional Billing Epic analyst with a strong understanding of Epic best practices and complex Professional Billing concepts.
