AI Summary

You will support Chinese manufacturers in collecting and organizing emissions data to ensure compliance with EU CBAM requirements. Additionally, you will act as a technical bridge between local manufacturers and the international team while conducting training and verification support.

We are CBAM Estimator, a young SaaS company based in Stuttgart. Our mission is to help companies meet the requirements of the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) accurately, efficiently and at scale.

We build modern web platforms that help international manufacturing and trading companies calculate emissions, manage CBAM-related data and prepare the documentation required for CBAM compliance.

We are an international team with diverse backgrounds spanning emissions accounting, environmental science, IT, mathematics and business. We share a commitment to making complex regulatory requirements manageable through a pragmatic and transparent approach.

To support our work with manufacturers in China, we are looking for an Environmental Engineer / Carbon Specialist based in China who combines technical expertise in environmental matters with strong communication skills.

You will work directly with Chinese manufacturers, helping them understand CBAM data requirements, collect the necessary emissions and production data, and prepare supporting documentation. You will also act as a bridge between local manufacturers and our international team.

You do not need to be a CBAM expert from day one. A strong technical background in environmental engineering, carbon accounting, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions or a related field is more important. We will help you develop the necessary CBAM expertise.

  • Conduct workshops and training sessions for manufacturers
  • Help manufacturers prepare emissions data and supporting documentation for independent third-party verification
  • Support manufacturers in addressing questions and closing data gaps during reporting and verification
  • Work closely with our emissions and product teams in Europe
  • Gather feedback from manufacturers to help us continuously improve our processes, methodology and software

  • Confidence working with data, spreadsheets, calculations and technical documentation
  • The ability to explain complex technical topics clearly to customers
  • An independent, structured and reliable approach to work

Nice to Have

  • Experience with GHG accounting or corporate or product carbon footprints
  • Knowledge of ISO 14064 and/or ISO 14067
  • Experience with emissions auditing, verification, monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV), or environmental audits
  • Experience delivering workshops or technical training
  • Knowledge of CBAM and/or the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS)
  • Experience with industrial processes in the iron and steel, aluminium, cement or fertiliser sectors, or other energy-intensive industries
  • Experience working with international or European customers
  • Experience with life cycle assessment (LCA) or product carbon footprint calculations

Benefits

  • A remote-first working environment for a role based in China
  • Practical experience working directly with industrial manufacturers and international customers
  • The opportunity to develop deep expertise in CBAM, carbon accounting and industrial emissions
  • Close collaboration with our emissions experts and product team
  • Structured onboarding to help you develop CBAM expertise from day one

  • An international team working at the intersection of climate regulation, industry and technology
  • A lean working environment with minimal bureaucracy, where your work has a direct impact

If you have a strong technical background in environmental engineering or a related field, enjoy working directly with manufacturers and want to develop expertise in international climate regulation, we look forward to hearing from you!
