Who We Are

At Yuno, we are building the payment infrastructure that allows all companies to participate in the global market. Founded by seasoned experts from the payments and tech industries, including the team behind Rappi, one of Latin America's most ambitious tech companies, our technology provides access to leading payment capabilities, enabling companies to engage customers confidently and maintain global operations through seamless integrations.

We empower high-performing teams at brands like InDrive, McDonald's, Rappi, and Viva Aerobus to connect to 300+ payment methods worldwide via a single API. By leveraging advanced AI and the latest technologies, we orchestrate smart routing and fraud prevention across 80+ countries.

About The Role

We are orchestrating a high-performing Money & Risk team that works with pace and enthusiasm!

Every payment that moves through Yuno has to be safe, and every cent has to add up. Our Money & Risk pillar is what makes that possible: it protects our clients from fraud and scams, and makes sure every transaction is reconciled, settled and accounted for.

As an Engineering Manager within Money & Risk, you will lead the engineers behind Risk Operations (fraud and scam prevention) and Money Operations (reconciliation and chargebacks) on a platform processing payments across 80+ countries.

You will own both the people strategy and the technical direction of a team that sits at the heart of our clients' trust in Yuno, operating in a fast-moving, global environment where accuracy, security and reliability are mission-critical.

Your Contribution Will Be

Team Leadership

  • Lead and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team, fostering a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and continuous improvement.
  • Mentor engineers at all levels, supporting their growth through coaching, structured feedback, and clear career expectations.
  • Drive hiring processes to attract and retain top engineering talent globally.
  • Create an environment where engineers are empowered to take ownership and deliver with autonomy and pace.

Technical Ownership

  • Own the full lifecycle of Yuno's risk and money operations systems: fraud and scam detection, risk rules and scoring, reconciliation, settlement and chargeback management.
  • Drive hands-on technical contribution through architecture design, code reviews, and complex troubleshooting, setting the technical bar for your team.
  • Guide architectural decisions for high-throughput, real-time and batch systems where correctness matters, ensuring they are scalable, auditable, and cost-efficient.
  • Set and enforce best practices across API design, testing, observability, data integrity, and documentation.
  • Ensure the team follows secure development and data handling practices aligned with PCI-DSS, GDPR, and other compliance frameworks applicable to the payments industry.
  • Champion an AI-first engineering culture, setting standards for AI-assisted development, automated testing, and LLM-powered workflows, ensuring your team treats these tools as a default, not an afterthought.

Cross-functional Execution

  • Collaborate closely with Product, Data and ML, Finance, Compliance, and Customer Success teams in an agile environment to deliver against a fast-moving roadmap.
  • Partner with Finance and Operations to make reconciliation and chargeback flows accurate, automated, and transparent for our clients.
  • Drive the evolution of our risk and money platforms to support new markets, new payment providers, and growing regulatory requirements.
  • Translate business priorities into engineering goals, managing trade-offs between speed, reliability, and technical debt.

Skills You Need

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing and growing software engineering teams, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
  • Strong ability to drive technical decision-making and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in payments or fintech, ideally working on fraud prevention, risk, reconciliation, settlement, or chargebacks.
  • Solid hands-on backend engineering background, with proficiency in Java, Golang, Kotlin, or similar languages.
  • Strong understanding of microservices and event-driven architectures, APIs, and integration patterns.
  • Experience with SQL and relational databases, and with systems where data accuracy and auditability are critical.
  • Knowledge of secure software development practices and OWASP principles.
  • Champion of AI-first development, with experience setting standards for AI-assisted coding, automated testing, and code generation using LLMs and tools like Claude Code or similar.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience delivering in agile environments, adapting processes to what actually works for the team.
  • Professional proficiency in English, written and spoken.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building or integrating fraud detection, risk scoring, or rules engines, including ML-based models.
  • Familiarity with card network rules and dispute processes (Visa, Mastercard), and with ledger, double-entry, or settlement systems.

  • Conversational Spanish is a plus.
