Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced, technically hands-on Engineering Manager to lead the design, development, modernization, and delivery of enterprise applications within the Sentinels organization.
This role is ideal for an engineering leader who enjoys solving complex technical problems, contributes to production code, mentors engineers through technical leadership, and drives engineering excellence through modern software engineering practices and AI-assisted development.
The successful candidate will combine strong technical depth with people leadership, owning both engineering execution and team growth while fostering a culture of innovation, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, modernization, and delivery of enterprise applications using the Microsoft technology stack.
- Remain hands-on by contributing to architecture, code reviews, technical design, debugging, and resolution of complex production issues.
- Drive modernization of legacy applications to modern .NET and cloud-native architectures.
- Champion engineering best practices including clean architecture, secure coding, automated testing, code quality, observability, and CI/CD.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Cursor, Codex, Claude, GitHub Copilot) to improve engineering productivity and software quality.
- Build and mentor a high-performing engineering team through technical coaching, career development, and regular feedback.
- Collaborate with Security, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and high-quality solutions.
- Drive technical decision-making, architecture governance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Foster a culture of ownership, innovation, accountability, and engineering excellence.
Required Qualifications
Technical Skills
- Strong expertise in C#, .NET Framework, modern .NET, ASP.NET MVC, Web API, and Entity Framework.
- Hands-on experience with Angular, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS, and modern frontend development.
- Strong knowledge of SQL Server, T-SQL, database design, and performance tuning.
- Experience designing and developing secure RESTful APIs using OAuth2, JWT, and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD).
- Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, GitHub Actions, and modern DevOps practices.
- Hands-on experience using AI-powered software development tools and integrating AI into engineering workflows.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, distributed systems, and enterprise application development.
Leadership Skills
- Proven experience leading Agile engineering teams and delivering enterprise software solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, establish high engineering standards, and drive technical excellence.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills.
- Self-motivated, execution-focused, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure), containerization, and microservices.
- Exposure to observability platforms, OpenTelemetry, and production monitoring.
- Experience leading modernization and AI transformation initiatives within enterprise engineering organizations.
