As our engineering organization continues to grow, we're looking for an Engineering Manager to join our Porto hub. This is a unique opportunity to lead an international team, contribute to the growth of our engineering culture and help build products that are used by millions of people every day.

We're looking for an Engineering Manager who is passionate about people and technology in equal measure. You'll lead a distributed engineering team, helping engineers grow professionally while enabling them to deliver impactful software. With a strong technical background, you'll confidently support architectural discussions, facilitate decision-making and remove obstacles so your team can focus on building great products. What you will be doing

• Lead and support an engineering team of approximately 6–8 engineers distributed across Europe.

• Partner closely with the Product Manager to translate product strategy into realistic delivery plans.

• Drive the team's planning process, including our in-person planning events held throughout the year.

• Lead hiring activities and help grow our Porto engineering hub.

• Coach, mentor and support engineers through regular 1:1s, feedback, career development and performance reviews.

• Foster an inclusive, collaborative and high-performing engineering culture.

• Enable the delivery of production-ready software with high standards of quality, security, scalability and reliability.

• Stay close to technical discussions by supporting architectural decisions, reviewing designs and helping resolve complex engineering challenges.

• Communicate progress, risks and dependencies with stakeholders while proactively identifying solutions.

• Contribute to JobCloud's engineering strategy and continuously improve our ways of working.

What we are looking for

• 2+ years of experience leading software engineering teams.

• Experience managing performance, coaching engineers and supporting career development.

• Experience leading end-to-end hiring processes.

• Strong technical background in Product Engineering (Frontend and/or Backend) or Platform Engineering.

• Ability to contribute to technical discussions and support architectural decision-making.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted software development and modern engineering practices.

• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.

• Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills.

• A servant leadership mindset with a passion for building healthy, high-performing teams.

• Based in Porto (or willing to relocate) and available to attend in-person planning events several times per year.

Our stack (today; evolving)

• OpenSearch with custom models for semantic search, React, Symfony (PHP), services in TypeScript, AWS with serverless components, Kafka, Docker, Github Actions, Cypress, and infrastructure-as-code with Pulumi. Agentic coding is part of the day-to-day. The stack will keep evolving; we expect the same of ourselves.
