Energy Advisor

APTIM is looking for a motivated and experienced Energy Advisor to join the IRA HOMES/HEAR program team.  Reporting to the Associate Director of Implementation, this role will provide direct oversight and leadership for external communications with program certified contractors, program partners, customers, or other stakeholders.  APTIM is responsible for managing program operations; reviewing rebate applications; marketing, outreach, and community engagement; and providing engineering and technical resources. The IRA HOMES/HEAR program is a federally funded initiative administered through participating states. The program provides rebates, paid directly to contractors on behalf of residential customers, for installing every saving measures in single and multifamily homes. 

The ideal candidate will have experience with energy efficiency programs and have a strong contractor support and relationship-based background with excellent time management skills, understanding of energy efficiency and weatherization measures, key collaboration and oversight of contractors to engage with the program, including outbound communication, and ability to review contractor submitted rebate applications for compliance with program rules and building science best practices. The Energy Advisor will collaborate with the internal team, program partners, program participants, and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities: 

• Establish relationships with contractors and provide program support 
• Review rebate applications for compliance with program requirements and provide timely feedback 
• Work as part of an energy efficiency team ensuring that contractors and customers are able to successfully navigate the program from initial application to post-project review. 
• Improve efficiency and increase rate of compliant applications from assigned contractors 
• Develop and lead presentations and host office hours focused on program rules and common application challenges. 
• Work with the Associate Director of Implementation, Program Director, Engineer, and other team members, partners, and the client to develop contractor-facing program materials. 
• Facilitate and coordinate trainings and meetings. 
• Organize and maintain a regular call log to track Contractor communications. 
• Maintain, update, and add entries to the system databases accurately.   
• Direct communications with contractors and customers.  
• Identifying and implementing process improvements.  
• Perform other related duties as assigned. 
• Ensure compliance with all APTIM quality and safety policies as well as all OSHA regulations. 

Basic Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university or equivalent work experience.   
• 5+ years of previous sales, customer service, or customer management experience. 
• Demonstrated ability to lead and execute building and maintaining relationships.  
• Strong communication skills, experience with customer engagement and coordination. 
• Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to analyse situations, identify existing or potential problems and recommend solutions.  
• Strong quantitative, analytical, and decision-making capabilities with good attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines. 
• Able to work effectively and professionally in both a team and autonomously. 
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint.  
• Experience with CRM systems and tracking databases. 
• Sound business ethics, including the protection of proprietary and confidential information. 
• Ability to apply detailed knowledge of organizational procedures to make independent decisions and serve as a credible resource for a senior management team.  
• Ability to work with all levels of internal staff, as well as outside clients and vendors.  
• Advanced written and oral communication skills, and presentation skills.  

Desired/Preferred Qualifications: 

• 3+ years’ program/project management experience related to energy program management, implementation, federal or state energy programs, electric or natural gas utility industry  
• Experience in the energy efficiency field with specific technical knowledge related to the installation of energy efficiency products and services.  
• BPI Building Analyst Technician or Professional certification preferred 
• Basic understanding of energy efficiency technologies and energy-saving solutions including lighting, HVAC, and other mechanical systems. 
• Experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerBI or other data tracking tools.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range for this position is $88,000 to $98,000 annually. Compensation depends on several factors including: experience, education, key skills, geographic location of the position, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity among other employees within APTIM.
