The Technical Trainer will lead the Electrical Technician program by delivering live virtual instruction and providing hands-on mentorship to learners. They will also collaborate with the training team to refine curriculum content and assess learner progress throughout the program.

We are seeking an experienced Technical Trainer to lead our Electrical Technician program. The program covers:
Electrical math: basic math and algebra for electrical calculations
Electrical theory and fundamentals
Electrical safety: NFPA 70E, arc flash, PPE, and approach boundaries
Lockout/tagout and hazardous energy control
Electrical distribution systems and equipment
Test equipment, meters, and tool use
Reading drawings, one-line diagrams, and schematics
Troubleshooting and maintenance practices

About the Role
Learners will complete a structured curriculum through our online learning platform and live virtual training sessions. You will provide hands-on technical guidance, feedback, mentorship, and real-world industry insight throughout the training, helping learners translate technical concepts into practical, job-ready skills and build the confidence needed to succeed on the job.
This role is ideal for a seasoned electrician or electrical engineer with a strong safety background who enjoys teaching and mentoring others and is looking for a remote opportunity to both deliver training and help shape the curriculum behind it.
Key Responsibilities
Guide learner development throughout the program, monitoring progress and helping ensure learners are prepared to succeed in the workplace
Help develop and refine curriculum and course content in partnership with the Uptime Crew training team
Deliver live virtual instruction on:
Basic math and algebra for electrical calculations
Electrical theory and fundamentals
Electrical safety, including NFPA 70E, arc flash, PPE, and approach boundaries
Lockout/tagout and hazardous energy control
Electrical distribution systems and equipment in industrial and commercial settings
Test equipment, meter, and tool use
Reading and interpreting drawings, one-line diagrams, and schematics
Structured troubleshooting and maintenance scenarios
Review assignments, assessments, and presentations; provide detailed, actionable feedback
Answer learner questions and provide technical support through Teams, live sessions, and one-on-one calls as needed
Provide technical guidance, industry best practices, and professional mentorship throughout the program
Bring real-world industry experience into the classroom by sharing current workflows, tools, standards, and workplace expectations
Partner with the Uptime Crew training team by sharing observations and feedback that help strengthen the curriculum and continuously improve the learner experience
Who We're Looking For
Core Qualifications
Licensed electrician credential, electrical engineering degree, or equivalent trade certification (EE strongly preferred)
7+ years of hands-on electrical experience in industrial, commercial, or manufacturing environments
1+ year in training, mentoring, or consulting preferred
Experience as an Energy Marshal, Energy Coordinator, Hazardous Energy Coordinator, or in a similar hazardous energy control role strongly preferred
Deep practical expertise in:
Electrical theory and the math behind it (Ohm's law, power calculations, circuit analysis)
Low- and medium-voltage distribution, switchgear, panel boards, and motor controls
Lockout/tagout procedures, with experience implementing or auditing LOTO programs preferred
Arc flash hazards, risk assessment, and electrical PPE
General Technical Strengths
Thorough command of electrical safety standards, including NFPA 70E, OSHA 1910.147 (hazardous energy control), and OSHA electrical safety requirements
Working knowledge of the NEC and why governing codes matter
Ability to read and explain one-line diagrams, schematics, and electrical drawings
Comfort troubleshooting electrical systems using structured methods
Ability to explain math and technical concepts clearly to early-career learners
Confident on-camera presence and comfort with Teams, screen sharing, and breakout rooms
Reliable high-speed internet, a quiet workspace, and a quality webcam and microphone
Nice to Have
OSHA 30 certification
NFPA 70E certification
Master electrician license or PE license
Experience in field service or traveling technician roles
Prior experience teaching, mentoring, or managing junior technicians
