Enterprise Digital Product (EDP) is seeking a Mobile App Product Manager to join the Mobile Center of Excellence (MCoE), with additional support responsibility opportunities with the Optum App and Optum Rx App teams as needed. The MCoE team supports the platforms, tooling, and release infrastructure that enable consumer-facing mobile experiences across UnitedHealth Group.

This role works at the intersection of mobile platform capabilities, release operations, product delivery, and cross-functional coordination. The Product Manager will help translate business and stakeholder needs into clear requirements, prioritize work in partnership with product and engineering leaders, and support the delivery of capabilities that improve mobile app reliability, delivery efficiency, compliance readiness, and speed to market.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on digital product manager who can operate across teams, bring structure to ambiguous work, communicate clearly with technical and non-technical partners, and help move priority initiatives from discovery through delivery. This role is expected to own defined product capabilities or workstreams, proactively identify risks and dependencies, and help improve ways of working while partnering closely with senior product leadership on broader strategy and roadmap direction.

For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Build solid relationships with MCoE, Optum App, Optum Rx App, engineering, release, security, compliance, operations, and business stakeholders to understand needs and translate them into actionable product requirements
• Support roadmap planning by helping define, prioritize, and communicate mobile platform and product capabilities aligned to business priorities, user needs, compliance expectations, operational efficiency, and delivery feasibility
• Own assigned features, capabilities, or workstreams from discovery through delivery, including requirements definition, user stories, acceptance criteria, backlog readiness, stakeholder alignment, and release coordination
• Partner with mobile engineers, platform architects, product managers, project managers, and release managers to translate pain points into practical capability improvements across mobile app delivery and operations
• Contribute to capability prioritization by evaluating tradeoffs related to cost, reliability, speed to market, compliance, user impact, operational complexity, and measurable business value
• Collaborate with Security, Compliance, Privacy, and Operations partners to help ensure assigned solutions meet enterprise requirements for audit logging, user tracking, tenant isolation, approvals, release readiness, and data handling
• Help identify when to reuse existing patterns, tooling, or processes versus when to recommend changes, documenting tradeoffs clearly for product and engineering decision-making
• Support rollout planning, stakeholder communications, release readiness, and adoption messaging for new or updated mobile platform capabilities and operational process improvements
• Proactively identify blockers, dependencies, risks, and improvement opportunities that could impact delivery timelines, platform reliability, team productivity, or user experience; escalate appropriately and help drive resolution
• Use data, operational insights, support trends, and stakeholder feedback to evaluate product performance, identify improvement opportunities, and inform prioritization decisions
• Participate in Agile product development practices, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, PI planning, dependency management, release planning, and post-launch review activities
• Continuously learn and evaluate mobile app tools, frameworks, release practices, automation opportunities, AI-enabled workflows, and DevOps patterns that may improve team efficiency and delivery quality
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement by helping document repeatable processes, reduce manual work, clarify ownership, and improve transparency across product and engineering partners

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in digital product management, mobile product management, technical product management, product operations, or a closely related role
• 5+ years of experience supporting digital product development and delivery in a complex matrixed organization
• 5+ years of experience translating stakeholder needs, business goals, technical inputs, and operational pain points into product requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and delivery plans
• 5+ years of experience working with multi-disciplinary teams, including product managers, engineering, design/UX, release management, project management, compliance, operations, and business stakeholders
• 5+ years of experience with Agile delivery practices such as backlog management, user story refinement, prioritization, sprint planning, release planning, and cross-team dependency management
• 5+ years of experience supporting user-centered digital experiences and using data, research, stakeholder feedback, or operational insights to inform product decisions
• General knowledge of mobile app standards, app lifecycle management, iOS and Android release processes, mobile quality expectations, and/or mobile platform operations
• Exposure to healthcare, regulated environments, compliance-driven delivery, or enterprise technology delivery
• Proven solid problem-solving and troubleshooting mindset, with demonstrated ownership of production issues, root cause analysis, risk identification, and follow-through on resolution paths
• Proven excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create clear documentation, business cases, decision summaries, status updates, and tradeoff explanations for both technical and non-technical audiences
• Demonstrated ability to operate with autonomy in ambiguous environments by breaking down loosely defined problems, proposing practical options, aligning partners, and delivering iteratively without blocking other teams
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to quality, timelines, stakeholder expectations, and measurable outcomes
• Proven ability and willingness to travel occasionally to UnitedHealth Group offices as business needs require

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with mobile app product life cycles, app store releases, TestFlight, Google Play testing tracks, production release readiness, or mobile release governance
• Experience with CI/CD, DevOps, release automation, observability, approval workflows, deployment tooling, or developer experience improvements
• Experience using product management and delivery tools such as Aha!, Rally, Jira, Confluence, Figma, Miro, PowerPoint, Excel, or similar tools
• Experience documenting repeatable workflows, improving operational processes, and identifying opportunities to reduce manual effort or improve delivery reliability
• Broader enterprise strategy, portfolio governance, final roadmap authority, and organization-level prioritization remain accountable to senior product leadership, while this role helps inform those decisions through analysis, recommendations, and execution support
• Demonstrated ability to convert complex or disconnected inputs into a clear plan, recommendation, or decision summary
• Demonstrated ability to influence without authority, build trust across teams, and help partners align around delivery priorities and tradeoffs
• Proven solid autonomy, judgment, and cross-functional influence, but is positioned to execute and advance agreed-upon product direction rather than independently own enterprise-wide product strategy

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $91,700 - $163,700 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
