AI Summary

Lead strategic analytical projects to identify business opportunities and provide data-driven recommendations to C-suite executives. Develop self-serve dashboards and eventually transition into a people leadership role managing a team of analytics professionals.

Overview

The Director of Strategy & Business Analytics reports to the VP of Business Analytics. Upon hire, this position will function as an individual contributor, working across business functions on a wide range of analytical and strategic projects determined by the VP of Business Analytics based on business need. The individual is expected to demonstrate strong business judgment, proactively identify analytical opportunities, build data-driven insights, and present recommendations to senior and executive leadership that drive business decisions. As the function continues to grow, this role is expected to evolve into a people leadership position with responsibility for leading, mentoring, and developing a team of analytics professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Work independently on analytical projects across any area of the business as directed by the VP of Business Analytics.
  • Identify business problems, performance gaps, and opportunities that warrant analysis -- not only when asked, but by staying close to what is happening in the business.
  • Structure business questions into a clear analytical approach and determine the right method and data needed to answer them.
  • Build analysis, models, dashboards, and reports. Turn them around quickly when speed matters.
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership and C-suite executives. This person will be in those rooms regularly.
  • Build and maintain self-serve dashboards that give business stakeholders direct visibility into their metrics.
  • Apply statistical methods to the work -- segmentation, regression, hypothesis testing, forecasting -- at the level the question requires.
  • Work with machine learning model outputs and translate results into recommendations business leaders can act on.
  • Partner with Data Engineering and Analytics Engineering on data needs, pipeline requirements, and data model gaps that affect analytical work.
  • Manage multiple projects at once and prioritize based on business impact.
  • Support the growth of the Business Analytics function by assuming people leadership responsibilities over time, including leading, mentoring, coaching, and developing direct reports while fostering a collaborative, high-performing analytics team.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or business field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10 years in business analytics, strategy, or a related field, with a track record of doing the analytical work directly -- not just managing it.
  • Experience presenting analysis to C-suite or senior executive audiences.
  • Experience working across multiple business functions.
  • Financial services or consumer services experience preferred.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • SQL -- used regularly for data extraction and analysis.
  • BI and data visualization tools -- Sigma, Power BI, and/or Tableau required.
  • dbt -- working knowledge of data transformation and how it fits into an analytics workflow.
  • Statistical analysis -- descriptive statistics, regression, segmentation, hypothesis testing, and forecasting.
  • Machine learning -- enough working knowledge to use model outputs, identify appropriate use cases, and explain results to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Communication -- written and verbal, including presenting complex findings clearly to executive audiences.
  • Business judgment -- knows what questions to ask, not just how to answer them.

National Debt Relief Role Qualifications:

  • Computer competency and ability to work with a computer.
  • Prioritize multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Punctuality expected, ready to report to work on a consistent basis.
  • Attain and maintain high performance expectations on a monthly basis.
  • Work in a fast-paced, high-volume setting.
  • Use and navigate multiple computer systems with exceptional multi-tasking skills.
  • Remain calm and professional during difficult discussions.
  • Take constructive feedback.
  • Available for full-time position.
