About the Role
We are an established, growing software company entering an exciting chapter, and we are looking for a Director of Marketing to help lead the way. You will lead a talented team, manage budget, and set the strategy for Marketing. Our market is evolving quickly, and we want a leader who brings both a sharp strategic view and the willingness to roll up their sleeves and get into the work alongside the team.
The right person is a strong communicator who sets clear direction, motivates people, and holds the team accountable to real outcomes. You lead with data, learn quickly, and are comfortable with change. You will partner closely with sales, product, and the executive team to keep marketing aligned with the business and moving with real momentum.
Responsibilities
- Set the overall marketing strategy across brand, demand generation, product marketing, content, and customer marketing, aligned to company revenue and retention goals.
- Define the company's point of view on how AI-mediated discovery (Generative Engine Optimization / GEO)
- AI shopping agents, LLM-based recommendations) changes the buying journey for our category, and translate that into a channel and content strategy.
- Partner with Sales and Product leadership on positioning, pricing input, and account-based strategies for key segments.
- Build and lead a team spanning demand generation, content/SEO-GEO, product marketing, brand/creative, website development, and customer/lifecycle marketing.
- Own the content strategy end to end, ensuring our value proposition is communicated clearly for consumption by both human readers and AI answer engines.
- Own the always-on digital demand engine: paid and organic digital channels, website and conversion optimization, marketing automation, and lifecycle nurture email campaigns.
- Drive a community and third-party engagement and credibility strategy.
- Oversee product launches, competitive positioning, and sales enablement materials.
- Lead adoption of AI tools across the marketing function itself, including content drafting and editing, campaign personalization, creative production, lead scoring and prioritization, competitive and market research, and marketing analytics, to increase output and speed without sacrificing quality or brand voice.
- Define KPIs that go beyond traditional metrics and include tracking share of voice in AI-generated answers and brand mention and citation frequency across LLMs.
- Own the marketing budget, reporting on KPIs, tracking impact by channel, and using data to drive decisions.
Required Skills & Experience
- 8+ years in B2B software/SaaS marketing leadership, with at least 3+ years in a Director-level role owning the marketing strategy and budget.
- Direct experience adapting a marketing strategy to include AI channels for a changing buyer journey.
- Strong quantitative fluency, comfortable owning a marketing budget, building attribution models, and reporting marketing ROI to executives.
- Experience building and coaching a team across demand gen, product marketing, content, website development, and brand.
- Excellent storytelling and positioning instincts, able to write and edit high-quality content personally when needed, not just direct others to do it.
- Familiarity with how LLMs and AI search surfaces generate recommendations, and what makes content/brand more or less likely to be surfaced and trusted in that context.
- Hands-on experience using AI tools in day-to-day marketing work (content generation and editing, personalization, analytics, research) and a point of view on where they help versus where they introduce risk.
- Visible productivity gains from AI adoption within the marketing function itself — faster content and campaign cycles, more personalization at scale — with clear guardrails in place for quality and accuracy.
