About the Company

Agri-Genesis is a customer-first, vertically integrated Missouri cannabis company spanning cultivation, manufacturing, wholesale, house brands Farmer G and FLWR PWR, and Sunrise dispensaries. Our mission is to improve quality of life by providing safe, reliable access to high-quality cannabis at fair and affordable prices.

This is a rare opportunity to own marketing end to end at a company that controls its entire supply chain — from the plants in our cultivation facility to the products on our own dispensary shelves and on retail shelves across Missouri.

As Director of Marketing, you will build the marketing function from the ground up: the strategy, the team, the infrastructure, and the standards. You will shape how two house brands show up in a competitive market, help our wholesale team win and keep accounts, drive traffic and loyalty at Sunrise, and make artificial intelligence a genuine capability of how this team works rather than an afterthought. You will report to our Chief Revenue Officer and partner closely with sales, retail operations, compliance, finance, and executive leadership.

Requirements

What You Will Do

  • Develop and execute an integrated, company-wide marketing strategy, annual roadmap, and budget aligned with Agri-Genesis's growth, revenue, customer, and brand objectives.
  • Establish clear priorities, operating processes, approval workflows, and performance standards for the marketing function.
  • Lead brand strategy and architecture across Agri-Genesis, including house brands, wholesale initiatives, and Sunrise dispensaries, ensuring clear positioning, consistent messaging, and a cohesive customer experience.
  • Develop marketing strategies that directly support revenue growth, distribution, sell-through, customer acquisition, retention, loyalty, and basket growth.
  • Partner with wholesale sales to develop retailer-specific sales tools, product launch materials, in-store programs, budtender education, co-marketing initiatives, and demand-generation campaigns designed to win, retain, and reactivate accounts.
  • Partner with retail and operations leadership to develop and execute customer acquisition, loyalty, merchandising, promotional, seasonal, and product-launch strategies.
  • Develop and manage promotional and discounting strategies in partnership with retail, operations, and finance while maintaining accountability for customer experience and gross margin.
  • Build and manage the marketing function, including recruiting, developing, coaching, and holding team members accountable for performance and results.
  • Establish and manage relationships with agencies, freelancers, creative partners, technology providers, and other marketing vendors.
  • Evaluate marketing technology, vendors, staffing, and external services to improve performance, eliminate unnecessary costs, and create a scalable marketing infrastructure.
  • Establish clear marketing KPIs, dashboards, and executive reporting that connect marketing activity to commercial performance and return on marketing investment.
  • Make artificial intelligence a core capability of the marketing function by identifying and implementing AI-enabled tools for research, customer and market insights, content and creative development, campaign planning, personalization, reporting, testing, automation, and workflow efficiency.
  • Develop repeatable AI-assisted workflows that improve marketing speed, quality, consistency, and scalability while maintaining appropriate standards for accuracy, data security, compliance, and human oversight.
  • Partner cross-functionally with sales, retail operations, compliance, finance, HR, and executive leadership to ensure marketing initiatives are commercially effective, operationally realistic, and compliant with applicable cannabis advertising and promotional requirements.
  • Monitor consumer behavior, competitive activity, emerging marketing technologies, and evolving AI capabilities to identify opportunities for Agri-Genesis to strengthen its competitive position.
  • Represent the Agri-Genesis brand professionally at company events, industry events, community initiatives, and other strategic opportunities as needed.

What Success Looks Like

  • In your first 90 days
    • You have assessed current marketing spend, vendors, technology, staffing, and brand assets, and delivered a prioritized set of recommendations to leadership.
    • A company-wide marketing calendar, intake process, and approval workflow are in place and being used by wholesale, retail, and compliance.
    • Baseline reporting exists so leadership can see marketing activity connected to revenue, distribution, and sell-through.
  • In your first year
    • An integrated marketing strategy and brand architecture are live across our house brands and Sunrise dispensaries, with consistent positioning and standards at every customer touchpoint.
    • The marketing team and operating structure needed to deliver that plan are built, with clear priorities, accountability, processes, and performance standards.
    • A practical AI and marketing technology roadmap is in place, AI is integrated into day-to-day marketing workflows, and you can point to measurable gains in speed, quality, customer insight, and campaign performance.
    • Marketing programs contribute to measurable commercial results — revenue growth, distribution, sell-through, customer acquisition, retention, loyalty, and basket growth — with clear return on investment.
    • Marketing activity remains fully compliant with Missouri cannabis advertising and promotional requirements, without sacrificing brand consistency.

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible marketing experience, including experience leading, building, restructuring, or scaling a marketing function.
  • Demonstrated responsibility for measurable commercial outcomes such as revenue, distribution, sell-through, gross profit, customer acquisition, retention, loyalty, or other business performance metrics.
  • Experience marketing products sold through third-party retailers, such as consumer packaged goods, beverage, wholesale, distribution, retail, or similar industries.
  • Proven experience developing and executing multi-channel marketing strategies across digital, email, social media, content, brand, customer engagement, and other relevant channels.
  • Experience leading employees and managing agencies, contractors, vendors, budgets, and marketing performance.
  • Advanced, hands-on experience using artificial intelligence in a marketing environment, including selecting appropriate tools, developing AI-assisted workflows, automating repeatable work, and applying AI to improve marketing performance.
  • Strong understanding of current AI capabilities and limitations, responsible-use practices, data privacy, and appropriate human oversight.
  • Strong analytical and commercial mindset with the ability to translate marketing data into actionable business decisions.
  • Strong written, verbal, presentation, project-management, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.
  • Strong ability to collaborate across departments and communicate effectively with employees, vendors, business partners, and executive leadership.
  • Ability to travel to company locations, events, and other business activities as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building, restructuring, or scaling a marketing department from the ground up.
  • Experience developing brand architecture and managing multiple consumer-facing brands or product portfolios.
  • Experience working closely with sales organizations to drive demand generation, distribution, sell-through, or account growth.
  • Experience integrating AI-assisted systems or workflows that increased team productivity, improved decision-making, reduced manual processes, or generated measurable business impact.
  • Experience in cannabis, consumer packaged goods, retail, hospitality, beverage, or another highly regulated industry.
  • Experience with CRM and loyalty programs, marketing automation, analytics, project-management platforms, SEO, paid media, public relations, website development, merchandising, and community partnerships.
  • Familiarity with Missouri cannabis advertising, promotional, and marketing restrictions.
  • Experience presenting marketing strategy, performance, budgets, and ROI to senior leadership or executive teams.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience
  • Performance-based bonuses
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Employee product discounts
  • Professional development opportunities
  • Potential for equity participation
