About the team 

The Operations and People team supports the staff of 14 Technology Holdings and its subsidiaries, their work, and their clients. The Ops and People Division includes People Operations: supporting recruitment, onboarding, and the employee experience; Financial Operations: executing payroll, book-keeping, and financial planning; Legal Operations: reviewing contracts, compliance, and insurance; and broader Operational Logistics support: facilities, travel, employee experience, and IT.

About the role:

The Director, Contracts will own the end-to-end management of contracts for 14TH and its portfolio companies. This role includes reviewing, drafting, and negotiating agreements with public and private sector clients, managing vendor contracts, NDAs, and statements of work, while collaborating with external legal counsel to ensure compliance and mitigate risk. The Director will also lead corporate compliance initiatives, oversee privacy policies, and streamline internal legal operations processes. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and brings a critical, analytical approach to contracts and the contract management process.

In this position you will:

Contracts & Contract Management

• Review, draft, and negotiate client contracts, vendor agreements, NDAs, SOWs, license agreements, and ad hoc agreements across business units.
• Ensure all agreements are reviewed for risk mitigation, compliance with state, national, and occasionally international regulations, and alignment with company objectives.
• Advise internal teams, including senior leadership, on contractual terms that may impact project execution, including intellectual property, staffing restrictions, non-compete clauses, and data governance.
• Oversee the entire contract lifecycle: generation, negotiation, execution, storage, and retrieval.
• Own the contract management system (LinkSquares), including system governance, data integrity, reporting, and ongoing optimization.
• Maintain organized contract records and implement processes to ensure efficiency, consistency, and accuracy.

Compliance & Risk Mitigation

• Support internal leadership with legal and compliance guidance across multiple disciplines, including government contracts, professional services, product agreements, and polling/vendor agreements.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement frameworks for monitoring legal requirements and data privacy compliance across the organization.
• Oversee corporate privacy initiatives, including policy enforcement, risk assessments, stakeholder coordination, and consumer rights request processing.
• Manage corporate insurance portfolio, including renewals, claims, and vendor relationships.
• Build and implement operational policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of legal operations.
• Track metrics to identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization.
• Provide training to internal stakeholders on contract processes, legal terminology, and compliance obligations.

Collaboration & Management

• Own and manage day-to-day operations of contracts and legal operations functions.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with business teams to resolve contractual, operational, or compliance issues.

Other tasks and duties as assigned and directed.

What we are seeking:

• 8+ years of progressive experience in contract review, drafting, and negotiation. Professional services experience is a plus.
• Proven experience managing contracts and legal operations in both public and private sector contexts.
• Strong understanding of legal terminology, compliance requirements, and risk management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal concepts for business audiences.
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience collaborating with external counsel and internal stakeholders.
• Prior experience overseeing legal operations processes, compliance programs, or contract management systems preferred.
