The Role

We are looking for a Data Product Owner to own the backlog, roadmap, and delivery of the data products that power everything we do, from pipelines and datasets to the dashboards and reports our teams and clients rely on. This is a role for someone who lives at the intersection of business need and technical execution, and who takes real pride in data people can trust.

As the owner of our data products, you'll translate business and analytical needs into clear user stories and acceptance criteria, prioritize a busy backlog, and partner with data engineering, analytics, and business stakeholders to ship trustworthy, well-governed products that deliver measurable value.

You'll be the primary advocate for data quality, lineage, and governance across the full product lifecycle. If you love turning messy requirements into sharp, testable plans, and if "is this number right?" is a question you enjoy answering with confidence, you'll feel right at home here.

What You'll Own

  • Own the backlog. Prioritize and manage the backlog for data products, including pipelines, datasets, data models, integrations, and analytics and reporting solutions, all against a roadmap aligned to business goals, governance requirements, and technical capabilities.
  • Turn needs into requirements. Write clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and source-to-target mapping requirements that give data engineering and analytics teams a sharp, actionable plan to build against.
  • Champion data quality. Ensure every data product meets defined quality, governance, lineage, and privacy standards across the development lifecycle, serving as the go-to advocate for trustworthy data.
  • Partner with engineering. Work side by side with data engineering to design and validate data models, ETL/ELT pipelines, and integration workflows that support real business and analytical needs.
  • Bridge technical and business. Facilitate discussions on data architecture and data quality, translating technical constraints into plain language for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Drive the sprint. Lead backlog grooming, sprint planning, and daily standups, keeping acceptance criteria clear and testable and adjusting priorities as data quality findings, stakeholder feedback, and business needs evolve.
  • Validate and release. Run reviews and demos of dashboards, reports, and datasets, validate outputs against acceptance criteria, and coordinate releases with data engineering, QA, and operations.
  • Measure what matters. Define and track success metrics such as data quality scores, pipeline reliability, and report adoption, and maintain documentation of lineage, definitions, and source-to-target mappings to support governance and audit needs.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data or Information Systems, Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ years as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or Business Analyst working with data products, pipelines, or analytics platforms.
  • A track record of writing clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and source-to-target mapping requirements.
  • Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies, including backlog grooming, sprint planning, and standups.
  • Proficiency in SQL and a strong understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT concepts, and data warehousing principles.
  • A solid grasp of data governance, data quality, lineage, and privacy and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a talent for making technical data concepts clear and actionable for any audience.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver on deadlines.

Bonus points for:

  • Hands-on experience with modern data platforms and tools such as Snowflake, Databricks, or dbt.
  • Experience with BI and reporting tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • Familiarity with healthcare, pharmacy, or pharmacy economics data and workflows.
  • Experience with product and backlog tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or Aha!.
  • Background in data governance frameworks, data cataloging, or master data management.
  • Exposure to APIs, cloud data platforms, or data integration and orchestration tools such as Airflow or Fivetran.
